You can edit your listing any time you want. It sounds like wilful deceit to me.

After reading all those statements and complaints about Discogs my personal summary is:

    1. Expect all items to be slightly overgraded.
    2. If you can't live with that ask sellers for details of condition.
    3. Don't expect that the current situation can be changed in the direction of a more accurate grading. Customs and competition between sellers are too strong factors.

It's so weird, though. The items are still on my wantlist... did he think I wouldn't find the new listings?

What did the seller think? He did not want the user wo asked the question to buy the records. But he knows that most other sellers tend to overgrade as well.

you can... but only if you actually delete and re-list will the original item number/listing disappear. based on what @uzn007 described, i'm scratching my head as to why the seller did anything at all with said listings if he didn't change the details.

on the other hand, it's no mystery that a great deal of sellers don't really understand how to use the site.

That seems perfectly reasonable, but why do anything at all, then? If he had just ignored me, I would have gone away, or if he had left the original listings unchanged, I would have gone away.

This. Maybe he's just one of these sellers that re-lists their albums every week to send out notifications.

Really? When I go into Marketplace and click My Store it shows all of my listings with an Edit Listing button.

 Perhaps Joachim, only the seller knows exactly what he was thinking.

... as well as options to delete and unlist, yes? what i'm saying is that simply editing your listing won't create a brand new listing ID/URL. you'll have to delete existing all together and re-list.

    Here's a discogs "experience" that I hate!

They keep emailing me w wantlist entries daily but they aren't new. It's the same ones every day for months and months on end! Am I crazy? Am I using the wantlist feature wrong? Am I an alien who assumed human form like "Starman" featuring Jeff Bridges?

I don't want to unsubscribe from the emails but I want it to only alert me about new copies from my list, not the same sch**t at the same prices every dang day! Im not the sharpest knife in the drawer but mama said there'd be days like this. Someone please tell me what I did wrong or can I get a witness.

  12. Some sellers re-up stuff on the daily, I generally block those sellers, I also unsubscribe from the daily email notifications. I just use the "Items I Want" page to see anything that's newly listed that's on my wantlist.

Ugh, just had my first case of the disc not being the pressing I bought. I ordered a 1984 Van Halen 1 Target. The artwork seems to match that.

But the disc is not a Target, and the matrix appears to match a 1990 BMG club pressing.

I'll be curious to see what the seller says - obviously, before I leave feedback.

:agree: Been there, done that and got the T-shirt. This is exactly why I learned to always ask about any CD I purchase off of Discogs. No exceptions and you wouldn't believe how many times the seller has there CD under the wrong listing.

this ties in to what i was discussing above, regarding unlisting/relisting. it's a long running complaint from discogs users. there's a forum thread there going on and on and on about it. discogs doesn't seem to care. after all, why would they want to limit potential sales that they can receive a cut of?

  16. There is an add on for Chrome that allows you to block sellers

Awesome I need that. For eBay as well. I'm wondering if the wantlist ads are really all relist's? Seems to be a lot of them. So many I figured it was a system glitch.

One question- if the item is a relist it should be near the top of the recently added in sellers items, right? Or does it stay where it was when orignally entered?

"I'm not sure, it most likely is a listing mistake. If you are not happy with the item please send it back media mail for a full refund."

:cussing: Not even an apology. I wrote back and said what's happened would be no different than if I had opened the jewel case and found an Aerosmith CD instead of the VH one that I ordered.

    Sorry. Venting.

I think they get re-listed chronologically, so it always appears near the top of your "Items I Want" page. I would like to see dates and times added to listings but I doubt that'll happen.

Since we're all doing some venting here I would like to add that out of the several returns I've had to make over the years on discogs each one was not a problem getting my refund once safely delivered back to the seller. So that's sort of a positive!

Let me just throw out a positive here... I got a package last night of two LPs and 2 CDs and they were exactly as described, i.e. a "VG+" was a real VG+ with barely any surface noise. CDs were listed as NM and looked like they had just come out of the shrinkwrap.

That almost sounds like reason enough to switch to Chrome (and probably would be if I bought off of Discogs more often).

  22. I downloaded and installed Chrome just so I could use this add-on. It makes Discogs a much nicer experience, hopefully someone makes 1 for Firefox.

I add the discogs extension to my Chrome. Lots of settings, but I already know I like Dark Mode!

    Just for some laughs:

A seller is advertising a Target CD as brand new sealed, at quite a low price. He has perfect feedback, so it may be legit. But I wanted to ask anyway, so I messaged him to say it sounded crazy to have an original target CD still sealed. His response:

Yes crazy indeed, we stumbled across a massive CD collection dating from 1985-2004 all still sealed and untouched for decades. This CD is sealed and matches up with this discogs listing, although there isn't an actual "Target" label on it, it had to have originally come out a big outlet store presumably such as Target or Best Buy.
 I think I will chance it.
