From its title, this thread exists primarily to discuss SOUND QUALITY, and the Japanese The Hit Maker album fits the topic of SINGLES, ETC. Your post was on-topic. It was not misunderstood by this reader.

It's a double vinyl set. Half speed mastered.

Does anyone know if the transfers were digital or analog for this one?
It looks very nicely and carefully done.

It says STEREO on the front and on the labels.
But since most of this stuff, so far as I know is only mono....

Does anyone know if this is original mono or fake stereo?

Many of these tracks were in fact recorded in stereo. However, “Everybody Loves Somebody” is Duophonic, despite the existence of a 3-track master (per @MLutthans; see here). And the mono-only “Chicago” is fake stereo (see here). I would guess the same is true for the other mono-only recordings on this 1975 release.

That's the one. The track list is even correct.
    Has anyone heard this release?
There are a bunch that have dedicated mono and stereo mixes. Like Ebb tide and only the lonely

I've got you under my skin is mono only. So what do we have here?

    Non-Album Tracks, 1960

One of the things that jumps out at you is how good the Japanese "the Hit Maker" compilation rates overall. How many tracks have this complilation as No. 1 or 2.
    It is a great set.

Golden Double 32 is awful. Gobs of Duophonic / fake stereo here. Save your money!

    It was five bucks. :)
I'm going to give it a clean to spare my stylus, as usual, then have a listen. And compare with some of the other stuff.

Yep, sound is not that good on this one. Haven't played it since childhood days. One of my earliest collecting items. Must give it a play these days. interesting that they used the original defective stereo mix on "I could have danced all night".
the beautiful cover photo makes the whole set worthwhile owning!
Seeing this makes me remember how everything started. Sigh....

Definitely an oddball thing to turn up on a 1970s compilation!

The material’s fallen out of copyright in the UK; this is public domain stuff of dubious origin. Can’t speak to its sources at all, but never heard it either, so can’t speak to how it sounds. Sorry, but on principle I’d avoid it.

I know nothing about this particular set, but I’ve had some experience with similar cheap grey-market collections from the UK and EU. Invariably, their sound quality sucks. A quick search turns up a few previous posts in threads you may want to look at:

    Sinatra Masterworks CDs?
Sinatra / Capitol Sound Quality (and general discussion): Singles, Soundtracks, Etc.
Frank Sinatra new (EU/unlicensed) 16 album CD boxed set The Capitol Years 1953-62*

  20. As said before, Sinatra's early stuff has hit the public domain in Europe and anyone is able to put it out. If you want to sample a few albums you've never heard before, it's a cheap and convenient method before hunting for much better versions. They are often sourced from MP3 files and the like.

I own a UK CD of “Songs for Swingin’ Lovers” (also has “Songs for Young Lovers” on disc 2) by a company called Not Now Music. I bought it absent-mindedly years ago, and it was my introduction to the terrifying world of public domain labels. Horrific sound. Imagine the Norberg mastering, as if it was playing in a tunnel and Frank was drowning in mud.

Suffice it to say, people aren’t exaggerating when they rant about how dreadful these unofficial UK and EU labels truly are :D

Bought a german 45rpm pressing of "Johnny Concho Theme" (Wait for me) and to my surprise it sounds amazingly good. Playing it over and over. Real nice.

Very surprising, because I recently bought two german pressings of the 45rpm albums "Swing easy" and "Songs for young lovers" and they sound terrible. After buying them I almost promised myself never to buy another german Capitol pressing again.

By luck, I gave the Concho single another try! It's beautiful

    This is a 1986, 45 rpm 12" single.

Nice 'N' Easy / Come Fly With Me / One For My Baby

    Which, I have just acquired....

Does anyone have this or know for sure this is just a 45rpm release of a few of the tracks from the 1986 Alan Dell "The Frank Sinatra Collection" double LP release?
Which, by the way, I am not a fan of....

Yes, I have this. And by coincident played it a few days ago. Sound is not bad. Although I am not a big fan of the "Nice 'n' easy" mix, which I think is a new mix made especially for the "Frank Sinatra Collection". But I may be wrong.
To my surprise "One for my baby" sounded really good on this one. Enjoyed that very much!

"You're sensational" sounds also amazingly good on this one! Even prefer it to my go to version from the Australian "Sinatra Rarities Vol.2" Lp. TOO BAD it is the shortened single version!

"ConchoTheme" even better than the Japanese "Hit maker" version!
