Pancreatic cancer is one of the hardest ones to beat. Michael Landon was doing push-ups and cracking jokes in April during his press conference announcing he had the disease, and he was dead by July 1st.

It does seem to be an insidious type of cancer that progresses very quickly.

There are various types with different outcomes and hopefully he has one of the less aggressive ones like neuroendocrine tumor (or islet cell carcinoma.)

    Stage 4 doesn’t sound good.

    He is 78 years old.

I love Alex as much as anyone, but I am not optimistic. He has had a good, long, productive life.

    We watch Jeopardy every day.
The show is Alex Trebek - his personality is so intertwined with it.

    This news is horrible.

Super classy. Kudos to him, and best wishes for his survival and for his family.

That said, pancreatic is a tough one, particularly past the earliest stages. I wish him only the best.

A good guy from all accounts, and he's had a wonderful life. A terrible disease cancer is, and I wish him the best. He certainly will have access to the best medical care in the world, so that's a plus. Hopefully pain will be kept to a minimum and he gets to live out whatever time he has left doing what he loves, whether it's the show or something else.

My mom had congestive heart failure, pneumonia and stage IV lung cancer at age 86. I had to make the decision to make her "comfortable."

I wish Alex well and hope he can beat the odds.
