I saw Gloria Bell today. Julianne Moore and John Turturro were both very good (especially Julianne Moore), but this story went nowhere. I don’t know what the point of the story was. It is tough for me to decide whether to put this in the “like” or “dislike” column. So I guess that means I wouldn’t recommend it. *laughs*
I agree it doesn’t go anywhere, but man Julianne Moore topless is something to behold... I think that nudges it toward the “like” column for me. Also saw Jordan Peele’s Us and preferred that...
Don't go the theater anymore. I watch most everything on Blu-ray, on-demand, Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu. Had an IMAX nearby when I lived in Miami, used to go about once a month.
Birds of Passage -- really good; about two families in Columbia and the rise of the drug trade, set against the backdrop of ancient rituals and the strength of the family.
The Favourite, a couple of months ago. I enjoyed it a lot. Great writing. I mostly go the cinema to see live screenings of opera, ballet and plays, although I'm seeing A Clockwork Orange on the big screen for the first time next month. As Kubrick is my favourite director, alongside Hitchcock, this is a bit of a big deal for me!
Captain Marvel ..again. Not a top tier Marvel film. Though I liked the train chase and Stan Lee‘s cameo was sweet.
The Sisters Brothers yesterday. Before that First Man. Pretty long gap... European Western shot in Bulgaria, France and Spain but set in 1850s Oregon and California. Kinda fooled me except for the mountains
Avatar 10 years ago. It was so mind blowing in 3D I saw it 5x. 5x and drove 28 miles..56 round trip each time. I'd watch it 5 more times if I could. WOW! Have you seen Avatar in an Imax/3D theater? Almost as WOW as this website. Fact.
Yes it does. I liked the trailer's, they looked excellent. I was really looking forward to the movie. Parts of it I did like, but in the park itself, it seemed like the filmed the movie as it should have been made and then cut the film into random pieces and spliced them back together. There was little continuity to the movie nor was there character development. The editing was terrible. Someone really screwed this movie up! Shame, as it had so much more potential. Something that I really thought was very odd was that the park was called Wonderland in the movie. Why not call it Wonderpark?
Saw Five Feet Apart two days ago, I liked it. Haley Lu Richardson did an outstanding job in her role as a cystic fibrosis patient in a hospital, undergoing treatment. I felt that the movie was very intelligently done. This movie was mad with a budget of only 7M. Which, to me, illustrates that you don't have to spend tens of millions of dollars to make a good movie. It has made 35M at the box office, to date. @Chris DeVoe, has your wife seen this one yet?
I saw that on the same day as you. Really nice weird little movie with a great cast (John C. Reilly, Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal and Rutger Hauer in a hilariously small role). I liked it a lot.
