Sad news. RIP. Here's his story how he turned down the offer being a permanent member of the Beatles. I turned down The Beatles... and I have no regrets
Apparently, Hutchinson was good friends with Pete Best and didn’t want to be responsible for him being booted out...
I wish there were more recordings of The Big Three. Those who were there said they had a very powerful sound. There's no film of them either as far as I know. They were filmed in colour at the Cavern for a promo type film for the Live At The Cavern ep. This was shown on Border TV at the time and maybe elsewhere but appears lost now. The original Big Three broke up shortly after. RIP Hutch.
What a poorly-written article. Maybe I'm not understanding British lingo, but one sentence makes it sound like Hutchinson is living in poverty and another sentence implies he's doing alright. Either way. he sounds like he was a devoted family man and and an overall decent chap. R.I.P.
Everyone in the band seem to have musical chops .... especially this lineup. Sounds like an absolutely electric night at The Cavern. This EP seriously rocked my world when I bought it in early 80s when I was about 15. My friends liked it too! Too bad they just didn’t have the songs or the production in the studio.
"pensioner" = can refer to someone whose only source of income is their social security check, but it can also be a general term for "retiree" "buy-to-let landlord" = someone who bought a rental property ("let" means "rent", as in the Roger Miller song "King Of The Road" - 'rooms to let, fifty cents').
Someone has changed the Wikipedia entry. Not only has Hutchinson's death been removed, but the entire article has been redirected to The Big Three.
RIP Johnny Hutchinson, for a while was a brief member of group soon to become known as "The Big Four"
