Can somebody explain why this perfect thread has been neutered by editing the title? It has now lost all relevance. Its very essence has been despoiled. I demand answers!
Hot off the press- Russell and Ron Mael of Sparks with Gillian Gilbert and Stephen Morris of New Order:
Marcia Barrett (Boney M.) and Ian Gillan... at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy annual cultural event on December 14th 2012.
Wilson and Jimi 1966. Saw this pair at the Fort Lauderdale Armory in 1966. Went to the stage during break and spoke at great length to Jimi. Told him to move to Greenwich Village because he would be "the next Chuck Berry" IMO. His exact words: "Tell me MORE." For years my story was challenged because "Jimi never played with Wilson. Jimi never played a left handed "JazzMaster', only Strats...You crazy!" But here is a photo of it happening. And there is that Jazzmaster just like I always said. He was playing through a 4X10 Fender Bassman amp. He told me all about his setup and I was all ears because I wanted to steal his gig and play for Wilson myself. But I had to stop and tell this fellow musician I thought he might have a career out there if he just got out in front for a change. He played real good. Real good.
Fantastic! Referring to this as a "Supergroup" would not be a stretch in any way shape or form. One I'd like to have been at.
Wherever Bob goes, whatever he does, whatever stage he steps out on, no matter who else is sharing the spotlight; he's always the center of attention... whether he likes it or not. *Maybe Bob's explaining it to Mike, Willie and Tom.
No smarta** comment... just a right on! 2 of my favorite musicians. Their short-lived collaboration wasn't an indication what might have potentially been.
Seconds before for no apparent reason Ginger smacked Charlie in the head with the mic. Beware Mr. Baker.
