Turns out, 12/16 is just 4/4, with a little hip roll. Who knew...?

David Geffen, in negotiating with WB to release Sammy from Geffen and be Van Halen's singer, well, Geffen got a part of the cut from the first VanHagar album.

I haven't read through all this thread so if it's already been mentioned, please excuse.

I finally found out who the scream was from in Ohio Player's "Love Rollercoaster" song. Back when I heard it on the radio in high school in the '70's there was talk that it was from a woman being murdered. Never got the official truth from the group until I conducted a search on it today....

Murder on the Roller Coaster of Love

Here's a YouTube snippet of the scream which was actually blood curdling ONLY when told it was from a woman being stabbed nearby in the studio.

I think it is twice as likely that men with have 3 vs. women. So if you throw in Scaramanga, the statistics work out.

Buster Poindexter, the singer of the abhorrent Club Med favorite “Hot Hot Hot,” is none other than David Johansen of the New York Dolls.

That one took a while to sink in.

For me it is kind of the reverse - I'm a big Johansen fan so I was aware about Poindexter (not really a fan). But as to the song being a club med fav - who knew?

I interviewed Johansen when that Poindexter thing came out (but hadn't yet become a Club Med sensation). He answered the phone in character, and after I minute I started asking about the Dolls and some of his other solo stuff. He asked, "Oh....do you want me to answer that as Buster or as David?"

    It was awkward.

I'm not sure what Ryan Adams expects! He could have changed his name! He might as well have been called Ick Jagger or Ichael Jackson.

In 1994 Dave Gahan collapsed and nearly died after a heroin overdose on tour in the US. The sensible thing for the record company to have done would have been to bring him home and get him some top-shelf treatment. But that's not what happened. Instead, they extended the tour by three months and sent Primal Scream out as the support band :righton:

That's what David Bowie did. He was born David Jones, but he changed his name to "David Bowie" ("Bowie" came from the knife of the same name) to avoid being confused with Davy Jones of The Monkees.

In the same way, the following actors changed their names for the same reason:
    • Michael Douglas became Michael Keaton.
    • Michael A. Fox became Michael J. Fox (the "J." came from Michael J. Pollard).

Hoagy Carmichael's "Stardust" is featured in the score of no fewer than 77 films. It first appeared in 1937 (Drug Store Bandits), and most recently in the remake of A Star Is Born 81 years later.

Is the story that Duane had just scored, hence the laughter, a myth or is there some truth to it?
