lead single "Hello Sunshine" is a very country flavored song about leaving loneliness and isolation behind and featuring steel guitar

The new single was just played on E Street Radio. It's just my opinion but that was awful.

David Sancious on the new record and John Brion that is very cool. New single playing seemingly every half hour on e-street radio..... haven't heard it. It is being described this way on the bTX forum: ead single ""Hello Sunshine" is a very country flavored song about leaving loneliness and isolation behind and featuring steel guitar"

but here are lyrics sketched and copied from BTX forum:

Here's what I got so far:

Had enough of heartbreak and pain
I had a little sweet spot for the rain
Over the rain and skies of gray
    Hello sunshine wont you stay

You know I always liked my walkin shoes
But you can get too fond of the blues
You walk too far, you walk away
    Hello sunshine wont you stay

You know I always loved a lonely town
Those empty streets, no one around
Fall in love with (cant tell)
    Hello sunshine wont you stay

You know I always liked that empty road
No place to be, and miles to go
But miles to go (cant tell)
    Hello sunshine wont you stay

But miles to go (cant tell)
    Hello sunshine wont you stay
    Hello sunshine wont you stay
    Hello sunshine

While not a fan of the song itself, I really liked the tonal quality of his voice. Does not sound like a 70 year old.

Excited to hear some new music from Bruce but it might have been nice to hold off this announcement for a week or two and not steal Nils's thunder in the week that his own first album for several years is also released. I know Nils's audience is a fraction of his boss's but all the more reason not to bury his news.

Could/shall Western Stars and BITUSA2019 coexist in the same timeline?
Have the previous megaboxes been released on the same year as a new album?

Not that it wouldn't make sense sales-wise: one release might help sell the other.

Sorry if I came off snarky. You're correct in that he has recycled tunes over the course of his career. I find it interesting when he releases archival tunes and you catch lyrics that went on to be a part of other songs. That being said, I'm hoping to never hear another lyric referring to graveyard boots or skull rings :).

The new release will be a no-brainer, really: it it's disappointing, thank you Bruce anyway, and if it's good, 's all good.
I'm more nervous about how the BITUSA outtakes are going to be treated.

On their own, those lyrics don't exactly inspire confidence. Maybe the music makes up for it.

Which is why I'm not reading them until I hear the song. What would be the point?

Bruce has only had 2 deluxe sets, so it's hard to see a pattern.

McCartney had a new studio album last fall and then 2 big archival boxed sets only 3 months later, so at least one old rock star's not afraid of market saturation! :)

Honestly, Bruce has to know that the new album and a "BITUSA" box would have zero impact on each other. Would anyone really think "man, I'd like that 'BITUSA' box, but I spent $12 on 'Western Stars' six months ago, so it's OUT"? ;)

Tuned into E Street Radio to catch the single. At first listen it sounds like late 60's Glen Campbell. Makes me think a bit of Gentle on my Mind. Not a bad thing. Interested to see how he promotes this.

I was referring to someone who brought up "Drive All Night" and "Independence Day" s examples of songs Bruce rejected for one album and then included on a later. I don't believe my quote implies that's a bad thing. Many artist premier new tracks live.
My problem with Tracks ( since you brought it up) --and indeed most of his archival projects--is the updated vocals ( and anachronistic instrumentation) on decades-old tracks.
I've explained reasons why in similar threads.
