We are where we are with Bruce. Nearly 70. I have said it before, but none of my idols sustained their songwriting genius beyond maybe 3 decades (Bob, Tom Petty, Neil). It would be unfair to expect Bruce to be coming up with songs that will rank with his 70s and 80s heyday.

All I am hoping for is something that does not sound like he is simply going through the tired E Street motions. The change of musical direction could be a refreshing reboot.

    That's a given.

Still, I'll withhold judgement until I hear it. I hope it's good.

Perhaps. Totally different set of circumstances and variables between 1984 and 2020 though. Totally different. In many ways it might as well have been 100 years ago.

"Social media" was still the landline telephone and letter-writing in 1984.

It just takes ONE candidate to lay claim to the wisdom of Bruce to cause a firestorm. Admittedly said firestorm would blow over quickly as compared to ‘84. Might sell an extra copy of the box though.

What's funny for me is that a good friend of mine is turning 60 in a few weeks and his daughter is planning a 'Bruce theme' (I know, but don't ask me what this means) for his party and he really detests twangy, solo Bruce. He's not even a Nebraska person. Bruce is putting out something that won't be played at his party, methinks.

Bruce, if you can come up with a song as beautiful as Black Cowboys or Dry Lightning, twang away, man, twang away...

What about twangy Bruce with the Band, e.g., “Lonesome Day”...?

I completely agree. However, when it comes to Springsteen, the music press and faction of his devoted fan-base often assert he is as great as ever, and the attack dogs come out if one suggests his contemporary work is less than stellar.

Bruce's announcement will likely move the needle on Nil's release by 50 copies or so...so it'll either end up with sales 850 or 750.

Doesn’t really excite me like it used to. I think his self-righteous sermons have worn thin with me.

Looking forward to hearing this, been waiting on it so long. My gut feeling is it will be as good as Working on a Dream.

So this is a E Street-less album? and he may be doing an E Street-less tour?

If so that was my prediction but I predicted it to happen in 2018 so that tells you how good my predictions are.
