  1. Scottish death metal band Party Cannon tried that approach with some success.

What are those fonts they are using? They make every band look like a Celtic tattoo.

Except for Party Cannon. That was well played on their side.

It occurred to me that I would have avoided a band with the name "Anathema" like the plague, had I not read such glowing recommendations of their latest (at the time) album on the Porcupine Tree forum, and then had the good fortune to espy the disc sitting in my local record store - whereupon I gave it an in-store listen.

That's why I like sites like this. The information from other members helps me to cut through the dung-heap to find the diamonds.

  5. I don't know, but they do make the logos look like a pile of twigs or used pipe cleaners rather than band names.

    "Bully".

Not clever, not funny, just infantile. It says to me "This band are a bunch of wankers".

I could be argued that it's a perfect band name though. Their music, vocals, image, lyrics, song and album titles and cover art are every bit as bad.

The worst band ever. Not even 'so bad they're good' or even in an interesting way. Just pure crap. Every single thing about them.

Never say never as the phrase goes, but I’ll admit giving bands with sentences for names a wide birth since it usually denotes “emo.”
I’m willing to be proven wrong and will even give those bands a chance if someone who’s taste I respect recommends them.

And Limp Bizkit were very popular.
What does that say about the public at large at almost any given moment?

In the late 80s-early 90s I was annoyed by bands with the word “Jesus” in the name.
    Jesus Lizard
    Jesus Jones
    MC 900 Foot Jesus
    Jesus And Mary Chain

And I’m not an offended Christian! It just bugged me at the time!

Just a word to the mods: if a post is deleted, I think it's only fair and polite to message the poster privately to say what was deleted and why. I spent about half an hour trying to figure out what I had posted that wasn't acceptable, since i don't keep a record of my posts. How are people supposed to improve if they are not told what it is that they did wrong?
