Going to Jersey City for a show next month and wondered if some of our esteemed forum members could recommend some good record stores for used Vinyl in JC.

Also, is it worth driving down to the Princeton record exchange?

Yes, it's worth taking a trip to PREX.

If you're driving there, the street parking is a challenge but there's a garage just around the corner from the store. Or you can (sometimes) find free lots a few blocks away but they fill up pretty fast.

Although I used to work in Jersey City, I'm not familiar with any decent record stores there. I can, however, vouch for the Princeton Record Exchange. It's a bit of a schlep from JC but I agree with the others that the trip would be very much worth the time and effort. Plan on spending a lot of time (and a fair amount of money) there! I usually park in the Spring Street garage, about a 3-minute walk from PREX.

And if you have some cash left over and love ice cream be sure to check out The Bent Spoon on Palmer Square. Great ice cream but cash only. Line will probably be long. Short walk from PREX.

  9. Vintage Vinyl, Fords, NJ may be nearer

What are you looking for? Cd/Vinyl? Genre? Era?

Just be prepared to do a lot of bending and crouching. Lots of inexpensive nuggets in the unsorted boxes on the floor below the categorized bins.

  13. Also consider Spin Me Round, Phillipsburg, NJ

They post a lot on YouTube

Yes. Great store. It's organized in a very cool way, one huge "new arrivals" store where the music rotates around the store with the newest in front. Good clean wax. I'm in Seattle but grew up right by PREX. The last few times I've been back to visit my folks I skipped PREX and went to Revilla. Grab a slice across the street when you go, decent and cheap old school pizza joint.
