    And Finland, yes sir.

My favourite LP too as a whole, but there are great songs on almost every LP.

Fascinating to me that Old New Borrowed And Blue is so many people's favourite Slade album. Don was walking with a stick after his near-fatal car crash and had to be lifted on the drum stool and Dave was on honeymoon for a lot of the recording.

The guitar solo on the brilliant Everyday was played by Jim Lea.

I must get a digital version of ONBAB!

The respected UK film critic describes Slade In Flame as the Citizen Kane of rock movies. And he is not being facetious. He rates it very highly indeed, as do I.

I would add Slade Alive, Nobody's Fools & Til Deaf Do Us Part.

Yeah i read an interview with Nod ages ago where he mentions this. I think he would of gotten quite bored with the formula of AC/DC. I wonder if he would of had to give up playing the guitar on stage.
AC/DC playing Merry Xmas Everybody would be good!

but I'm really happy the good Noddy stayed with the Slade.
come on ... OK ... now Slade still plays, and they are fun today too.

But to replace this great singer with any other ... come on ...?

Its strange that Noddy Holder never released a solo album. Given that Slade were absolutely massive and Noddy co-wrote all of their hits it just doesn't make sense. He must be one of the very few front men/lead vocalists of a huge band to never even try for a solo career (in music)...

Well, he was with Slade continuously from the late 60s until the early 90s. When he left it seems he wanted to retire from music completely, at least as a performer (he has worked as a DJ) and he has stuck to that ambition ever since. Even Jim Lea who left the band at the same time has only issued two records in the ensuing 25 or more years.

That’s one of my Sweet favorites. It was the flip side of Action as well, another favorite of mine.

The original Polydor CD is excellent as were all the original CD titles imo remastered by Jim Lea- if you are a collector and Slade fanatic (like me) you need the Salvos for the bonus tracks and the overall beautiful packages, A presentation for the fans and with all the nostalgia intact.
The Salvos are louder but do the trick.
You won’t be disappointed especially if listening without headphones- as most probably do.
I have Slayed CD on now the Salvo, with cans on and the volume is only set to 30 - I was listening to my UK Polydor earlier and the volume was at 40 with no ear bleed—with room for a clear boost.
BTW All the Slade Salvos, B Sides, Comps and box are well done I think.

It's great musically, but the trying too hard macho sexist bullsh!t lyrics let it down a lot.

"If she don't spread I'm gonna bust her head". What sort of arsehole do you have to be to write and then sing that?

Songs like this and Someone Else Will are embarrassing lyrically.

The B Sides had obviously been self-penned and heavy for some time, but
totally agree, even with Turn It Down, Chinnichap seemed to be trying too hard to kill off the memory of Co-Co etc.

I've wondered a few times what 11 year old screaming girls made of Someone Else Will....

The live version on Strung Up, recorded in 1973 at the height of their glam fame is disgraceful and not in a good rock 'n' roll way, just pathetic. I'm surprised they got away with it. Sadly 70s rock & pop stars sometimes got away with far too much.

I’ve often thought about picking up the original CDs of Slayed? and Sladest. I have the Salvo’s which are beautifully put together. Especially the latter.

The Salvo The Amazing Kamikazi Syndrome is pretty awful. Grab it for the bonus stuff.
The old WG 1990 The Story of Slade 2 disc is nice.(these guys are far from audiophile recordings ) Picked it up from a forum member recommendation about 6 years ago.

Speaking of Slade, here’s Record Mirror’s review of Old New Borrowed & Blue from February 1974.

It's very different here. Slade were huge and just about all the Polydor 70s albums and singles are quite easy to get hold of. Less so in excellent condition. Nobody's Fools isn't easy to find, but not rare either.
