  4. Nevertheless: he's presumably still dead, so here's hoping he's still resting in peace.

A mate of mine sent me this, which he's picked up from an auction of Pete's stuff. A lovely surprise in the post this morning. Genuine unused MTH sticker from '69.

I asked if the auctioneer happen to mention what the brown stain in the corner was. It was the 60s after all... No info supplied, alas, so it could be anything. Probably tea :).

As I'm currently reading Pete's 'The Man Who Hated Walking', it'll make a great bookmark. I suspect he'd like the idea. It fact, thinking about it, it'll get more use by me than it's ever had stuck in one of the man's cupboards. I'll frame it after.

His long battle with throat cancer certainly explains his absence from the Mott The Hoople documentary.

Was trying to explain to myself how I could've missed the announcement of his death. Then it hit me: January 20, 2017. One way or another, we are still wrestling with that one.

A giggle. Would have loved to have done the walk with him, to be honest.

Sorry , I had to look it up. I see what you mean now. Probably as good a day as any to check out.

I didn't manage to make any of the recent MTH '74 line-up reunions shows. I'm very aware that the Rant Band are amazing, but I wonder how it was for Bender/Fisher/Hunter not having Buff & Pete there. Very mixed emotions I guess. Fallen comrades now gone - but what fantastic music they left that people are still enjoying now. 'The Hoople' was always my favourite album.

It's just one of those things. Kurt Cobain passed on the 5th of April '94. A few days later, on the 7th, Lee Brilleaux died. He - to me - was far more influential on my 'music' life than Cobain, but his death hardly raised eyebrows as it was lost in the explosion of media coverage involving what happened surrounding Kurt. Life and death; very unfair.

One of the sad things is that Dr. Feelgood seem to be a lot more popular now than they were in the early 90s, and Lee Brilleaux didn't live to see it and enjoy it. He was fantastic.

Sky Saxon died on the same day as Michael Jackson, if I recall correctly.

I loved Overend and Buffin together. The Drive On album from '75 is excellent.

I think both post-Ian "Mott" albums had some fine tunes on them.
