Fortunately no issues for Canada. Weird that there are restrictions on vinyl purchases for U.S. customers. It's not like it's food, plants or chemical products.

I always thought that Amazon’s ideal preference is to stratify their sales - to force the buyers to purchase within their own “Amazon country”.

At the risk of incurring the wrath of whoever reprimanded posters before for discussing this issue in this thread, I will repeat that there are many media items with this restriction in their listings. Interestingly, though, I read on the blu-ray.com forum that despite this disclaimer that people in the U.S. have managed to order and receive said identified items anyway.

Why do you keep quoting me? All I said was the seller had some bad reviews just as a note of caution.

I’m not especially interested as to whether you get it or not. Maybe quote someone who cares?

Slightly off topic but useful to know:

Live in Tokyo (Reissue 2019) (Gatefold Black 2LP + CD) [VINYL]

I pre-ordered this for £20.33 last week. It's due out in mid-July yet Amazon.co.uk charged my card for the full amount 2 months in advance. It was an actual debit showing on my card, not just an invisible "authorization". I phoned to query and was told it's a change in policy for pre-orders. I'm not sure if I believe this but two consultants told me the same thing, and I'm now awaiting a call from a senior manager. I asked for a refund, still pending, and a discount for the inconvenience, also promised but still pending.

If anyone else has experienced this very recently I'd be interested to hear. PM if you want to keep discussion away from deals. But I think, if this is true, it will effect people getting the best deal by locking in a price, that you normally don't pay until it ships. I quoted their own policy back at them but so far have no real answer why they charged me £20.33 on 15 May for a record not yet released until July. Very strange indeed?

The item is below if anybody wants to test the system. They took about a week to charge my card in full. It was a visible debit NOT just pre-authorization.

  24. Bad business! Sorry to hear that. Hope you get an appropriate goodwill credit. I would never contemplate placing a pre-order unless release was imminent. I have found that many aspects of their UK website has deteriorated greatly over the past month or so.

I just got a call back from the manager.

She confirmed Amazon UK policy has changed for pre-order items. She also said that in future you will be charged 5 days after pre-ordering said items.

You can still cancel pre-release and get refunded, or will still get pre-order price guarantee refund after it actually ships.

She could NOT confirm if this also applies to USA Amazon.com. I've now been refunded and £5 goodwill gesture applied. She says she will email me the updated policy. I'll post it here as I think it's fairly important news.
