I’ve always been attracted to artists [ groups] with great vocals, especially great group harmonies.
Equally fascinated by those groups whose vocals were hopelessly sub-par.
( my taste will be remarkably different than most of you)
So I’m interested in knowing which artists/ groups you love regardless of the “bad” vocals?.
Or maybe which groups you might enjoy if the vocals were better?

    1. I’ll spin Van Morrison regardless of the fact that I can’t understand a darn word he mumbles just because the grooves are usually so good.
    2. Same for Joe Walsh - the songs transcend the whine.

    - Dylan was a superb tunesmith but I cannot listen; same for Petty, Jagger, Cocker, Leon Russell and the current tenors singing for Chicago.

    Have your say...

So you can't listen to Van Morrison, Dylan, Tom Petty, Mick Jagger or Joe Cocker?

You're gonna get pummeled here, but that's a cute dog in your avatar, so you've got that going for you.

    Which is nice!

Megadeth, while Dave Mustaine's vocals "fit the music," they're pretty bad. Especially compared to James Hetfield's and Tom Araya's.

Bob Dylan, he has the most grating voice in the history of popular music, like you couldn't pay me to sit through an album. He's a great writer so I don't know why nobody ever told him to just stick to writing and stay behind the scenes.

First thing to come to mind is Dinosaur Jr. My wife adores them but I continue to have a difficult time with J Macsis' groany vocals. He's a fantastic guitar player and his tunes can be catchy as hell, but when he starts singing, I just wonder: why?

I like Dylan a lot but that's true. As much as I like his lyrics and poetry, his voice can definitely turn some off.

    I still like it.
I don’t think he sounds as bad as most people say he does.

Not up to par, but not horrible.
    It’s a great song.

That's a bad vocal, I think it's during the era when George was doing a lot of cocaine.
