And in other news, Facebook stock plummets due to death of Grumpy Cat.

All kidding aside, I don't like cats in the least bit and have never seen Grumpy Cat but the face in the linked article above is classic. Agree, sad for the owners who lost a family member.

My 11 year old was bummed to hear this news this morning. A few years ago, he came home from the school book sale with "Grumpy Cat's Guide To Life" and said that Grumpy was his "spirit animal." :D

We also enjoyed Grumpy's cheesy-but-fun "Worst Christmas Ever" movie that ran on TV a few holiday seasons ago.

We lost one of our kitties two weeks ago, today. We'd been treating his kidney issues for a year but it eventually became too much for him and he'd almost stopped eating and was quickly wasting away. It was my fifth time through the death of a beloved pet and it's never easy. They truly are part of the family.

So many of the famous Internet cats are starting to get into old age and we'll experience their loss, too.

Me too. My other cat walks the hallway every night crying out for her departed sister.

Our second is experiencing loss as well, much less energy and lots of time spend sitting on the floor by himself or walking around looking for his companion. I had to get him and bring him to bed with me to give him some attention this morning. They do have feelings and emotions, just like us.

Yes they do. Our last one is 19 and has never lived without another cat. She lost two sisters within the past year. Giving her extra extra time helps ...I hope.
The dog is just a big bumbling annoyance to her. Too bad cause he likes her a lot.

Alas, cats in general are very susceptible to kidney/urinary tract issues. Lots of cats don't drink enough water (no fault of their owners; the cats just don't regulate themselves well enough). I believe kidney/UT issues are the single biggest "natural" cause of feline deaths. I've lost a couple of cats this way myself, unfortunately.

I never gave much attention to Grumpy, but hearing this reminded me of my favorite net cat, Henri, who I learned is happily retired.

RIP little baby...7 years is not a lot for a cat. Anybody know how long Morris was on this earth?

The first Morris lived around 10 years after being discovered at the shelter, but the TV role was played by three cats.

Edit: One source I see indicates the first Morris died at 17 years old.
