I'm already turned off to the Elton movie even though I'm a pretty big fan of his 70's period. The reason is, I can't stand innacuracies in bio pics...and i just read in one review that in the film, he opens his NYC debut show (which became the album, "11-17-70") in 1970 with Crocodile Rock. Need I say more...??

...but I'd be willing to bet there are a ton of once-upon-a time would be songwriters out there who often fantasized about what the movie suggests; not so much to wake up in a world in which no one had heard of The Beatles but travelling back in time to say, 1962, and beating them to all those great songs year after year.

I like the premise, so I will be seeing it, even though it’s apparently unnecessary and meaningless.

..but aren't all fantasy movies, in a way, unnecessary?

If word comes out that Paul and/or Ringo have a cameo in Yesterday (despite Paul's assurance that he has no involvement), then I'll go see it. As it is, I'll let Macca speak for me:

I’m not going to see it because it’s a “Beatles movie”. I’m going to see it because it’s a Danny Boyle joint. I love his stuff.

This 1,000% I just don't get how people are actually bothered by this fun little film or its mere existence; it proposes to be a fun little fantasy jaunt. If you don't care to go, so be it; but slagging it off suggests a wee bit too much Beatlemania at this point. And I'm a huge Beatle fan so I feel qualified to say that. :)

I automatically hated it. But then I watched the trailer and it looks cute, but I sense it will become a gag-fest before the end. I will get it from the library some day.

I saw it at a film festival. The emcee mentioned that it was the only film in the entire week that the curators had not seen. They accepted the film “blind” based on the director’s reputation.

It is quite the departure for Danny Boyle, and that’s understating it.

It’s a million miles from “Shallow Grave” or “Trainspotting” or even “Slumdog”.

Danny Boyle is a fairly good director, but Curtis is appalling. Over sentimental and his scripting of dialogue makes me think he has no clue about the characters that he writes about.

I saw an extended trailer in a cinema that focused on the hero's music making. Looked pretty good but goofy -- Danny Boyle is a real-deal director so who knows.

I've always loved that fantasy of going back in time while retaining your current musical knowledge. Imagine going back to your '60s band and saying, "Guys, I just wrote this thing called 'Little Red Corvette.' ..."

If it was a film about an alternate reality in which the Rutles never existed, I might have tagged along for the ride
