Do I still need my CD player?

    well I find it a lot better ,programs like Roon let you enter song info for each track ,sometime that's must for Jazz ,I lived with Lps,and Cassettes and cds ,this is just a better cd player

    No, not at all. It would just have been a desirable object to own - twelve years later it's been left well behind sound-wise. There may be better transports available now

    I recently regretted not having a CD player and picked up one from Goodwill. I listen to vinyl all the time, but I have to say that CDs sound really really good, I'd forgotten.
