The Handmaid's Tale - Hulu

I recently watched season two again with a friend who had missed it. Second time around I found season two more compelling than the first watching. There were a couple of slow moments but there was so much depth to the writing and characters that I was engrossed. It's not quite as good as the first season, but it is much closer than I previously believed. I'm looking forward to season three.

 

What’s the production cost of this show?

I'm sure the best way to watch and hear the show is good old fashioned Blu-ray.

anyone else feel like season 3 is going to be a massive let down?

 

Trailer looks a bit meh. But I’ll buy the blu ray regardless.

 

I need Season 3 to be really good, because I need to add some more depression in my life.

If this show doesn't do it, no show will.

 

while season 2 started slow... the finale of season 2 is some of the most compelling television i've ever seen. How Yvonne Strahovski didn't get an Emmy for Season 2 is beyond my comprehension.

 

Who knew this show would turn out to be a documentary!

 

I felt like Season 2 was torture porn, I’m gonna give S3 a shot, but we’ll see !

This review suggests that the problem I saw developing in season 2 gets worse in season 3... namely that the show is spinning its wheels:

I started reading that article a few days ago but quit a couple of sentences into it. Too many spoilers for me. Good or bad, I'll watch it anyway.

 

i read a couple paragraphs and decided i didn't want my suspicions (and your foresight) confirmed in full just yet. let's hope it at least ends interestingly.

 

My friends recently had to pay his wife $3m in a divorce settlement. I said “Think of it as ‘the Handmaidens’ payoff.”

 

Yep. That’s the sad part it’s very much of our time now in many respects.

no.

 

I couldn’t get through S2. I tried but failed. There’s no hope for me for S3.

 

I'm kind of expecting the show to go in directions I won't really be into. I think there's something to be said for a show having a planned out story arc and ending. Even stuff like "The Sopranos" overstayed its welcome for me and started to recycle itself with diminishing returns.

 

Best thing about season three so far (I've streamed the first three episodes) is it ISN'T torture porn like the last season.
