Sixto Rodriguez- Coming from Reality vinyl price differences?

Why is this album at the $40 or $50 price on Discogs for the 2009 release?

and

$121 to $320 on Amazon for the 2009 release?

I know the 1971 release goes for big bucks but what is up with the prices on Amazon?
I think there is a reissue coming out as well.
I have the 2009 release new sealed.

 

Because Amazon have a pricing algorithm which doesn't 'know' anything.
If there is very little stock and high demand the item must now be worth big bucks due to basic supply and demand profit maximization.

Also, keep in mind these albums on Amzon are *not* being sold by Amazon, but by third party sellers, who then have to pay a relatively high percentage (compared to eBay, Discogs, etc.) to Amzon once they make the sale. Since Amzon doesn't have the album in stock, then there is no competition present (other than among themselves) for the third party sellers -- they can essentially ask whatever price they want.

Funny I just walked into Goodwill today and found An original pressing of Coming from reality for $1.49. I saw it and couldn’t believe my eyes.

 

Nice price, I sold mine for just a little over what I paid for it.
