Mine would be Die Hard. Top of the mountain for me but there are dozens and dozens of 80s action flicks that are a fun watch.

    What is your favorite?

Die Hard is a favorite of mine too. The following are 1980s action movies that I like:
    • The Terminator
    • Project A-Ko (the movie that got me into anime)
    • Condorman
    • Batman

Die Hard is a good choice.

Roadhouse is one of my favourites. I guess that's an action flick. I've watched it loads and will watch it again.

Hard to pick a favourite though. I also love Above The Law. Another repeated watch for me :)

Alien's is good too and I tend to watch it if it's on TV. Good cast IMO.

But generally I prefer stuff like Roadhouse and Above The Law because of their absurdity. Above The Law has my favourite line in a movie ever

I would probably say First Blood or Die Hard. I need to watch more 80s action flicks, as they seem to be a bit under-represented for me.

    The Terminator, all the way.

The right balance of style and substance.

Die Hard is the only one I rewatch regularly, mostly because of the Christmas connection (although I may watch it other times of the year).

Considering all of the remakes, I could see them remaking Die Hard with Santa being in the wrong place at the wrong time...so he has to take care of matters.

Probably my second least favorite genre (after horror), but The Road Warrior was tremendously entertaining.

    1990 is still in the 1980s. :D

You were the best kind of correct, technically correct.

While perhaps one of my favorite movies ever, The Blues Brothers is a 1970s movie.

To answer OPs question: way too many. Classic Arnie seems to rule the decade. But a lot of other great flicks as well:

    The Terminator
    The Running Man
    Total Recall
    Predator

Full Metal Jacket (the first part. Yes I know it technically was not action. But the movie is so great I had to include here.)

    Escape From New York
Big Trouble in Little Sanchez China

    Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade

    Batman

    Rocky III (Clubber Lang)
    First Blood

    Die Hard

    Invasion USA
    Delta Force

License To Kill (Timothy Dalton was a VERY underrated Bond)
    The Living Daylights

    Top Gun...... and......

I'm pretty sure The Blues brothers was released in 1980.
