Re: the 2007 Rhino Vinyl - U.S. pressings, the problem IMHO wasn't the sound of the mastering, the problem was the horrible pressing quality. Both my UP and Closer were significantly off-center on at least one side of each LP (A Rainbo job IIRC?). I wound up giving mine away after I bought the 2015s.

I'm sure many will disagree vehemently but for me the definitive version of these albums has always been on the Heart and Soul CD box set.

I also agree with @c-eling that the earlier U.S. Qwest CDs sound fine too.

And yes I would love to see a label like MOFI, Analogue Productions, Intervention, Speakers Corner, Impex, etc. do AAA remasters on LP but that seems highly unlikely to happen.

Curious to hear how the new 2019 pressing stacks up but if it's not a new cut that significantly improves on the 2015 LPs I'll probably pass. I don't need it just for the colored vinyl.

I get the feeling that the 2019 pressing was done either at MPO or Optimal GmbH for the European market. I'm sure someone will be able to confirm if via the matrix runout information

No info anywhere it seems about who actually cut the lacquers for the US 2007 Rhinos. Around that time Ron McMaster was cutting a lot of LPs for Rhino that ended up being pressed at Rainbo. Wonder if he did it? It's said that around that time Capitol Mastering used a digital delay preview head also.

Yeah, Factory blurb stuff handwritten in wax + cat number info that's it. I will give them props for the packaging and design. Pretty much the only saving grace for this one.
Ron would of had his sig in the wax I'd think.

I bought it this morning, took it home put it on the turntable, was badly dished and jumped all over the place!

Back to the shop who exchanged it with no problem, the new copy is ok.

Still I do have 2 Factories, a US Quest and the 2007, so I doubt I'll play it much anyway.

Ron does sign most of the time, but not always IIRC.

Got mines today. It's good but not as good as I recall the original pressing. Though I would empathise that I haven't heard an original in about 20 years so might be my memory playing tricks on me.

Think that design has been pimped out to everything. I had a roll of toilet paper that included it

Nope. Why, is it a national holiday in the States today?

I am confused. Is this much different from the 2007 cut?

I bought my wife a tote bag with THE design on it. I did get it at a Hooky show though, so it's legit.

It is from the 2007 remaster... I'm interested to know what your dead wax etchings are. The copy I have here has the UK 2007 dead wax etchings of just the bar code.... The 2007 US pressings had the original dead wax etchings as found on the original pressings along with the bar code number.

    Even better: Already ten reviews!!!

Guess I'll be playing my German Intercord today. That's definitely a great addition to the UK Factory!
