Favourite David Lynch film?

Dopplegangers and multilayered reality, two familiar Lynch themes. Plus Naomi Watts. What's not to like?

 

Blue Velvet is his masterpiece.

 

I love all David Lynch movies a lot.
Except for Dune!
And I wish that we could turn back time and replace Fire walk with me with ep.8 from the 3rd season of Twin peaks.

Mulholland drive is a kind of mixture between, That Obscure Object of Desire by Bunuel, Persona by Ingmar Bergman and Sunset Boulevard by Billy Wilder. But than different.

 

Blue Velvet is no.1

 

My favorite directing of his overall is the final episode of the original Twin Peaks (the Black Lodge sequences), but focusing just on his feature films, I'd go with Mulholland Drive (with Blue Velvet a close second).

 

Is there a reason why Lynch does not have commentaries on his DVDs and Blu Rays?

 

He most likely wants viewers to "feel" his work on an emotional level and reach their own conclusions without any explanation from him.

 

Tarantino ever comment on David Lynch?

 

I remember Tarantino saying something to the effect of he liked Lynch’s earlier work but got off the bus with FWWM, which he hated.

No, you'll need to get The Return separately. And however you end up getting Fire Walk With Me, make sure you also get The Missing Pieces, it is essential!!

 

The Return (2017) ending did it satisfy fans ?

 

I was oddly satisfied by the ending. My big complaints (SPOILERS --------- Too much Dougie, not enough of Coop as himself) ---------------, but overall it was pretty good. However, it still wasn't the same story we would have gotten if the show had lasted for a full third season in 1991-92. Lynch & Frost had to take into account 25 years passing...

 

Dougie, I loved sheer genius I thought + the nagging wife. Pleased Naomi Watts is getting more work her way..Game Of Thrones prequel no less. Looked like a Pulp Fiction homage thing going on with Tim Roth (Pumpkin /Honeybunny ) Hutch Hutchens & Chantal.

 

Will there be another Twin Peaks instalment in the future? David Lynch said it depends on how fans respond to Twin Peaks The Return ( 2017).

 

Wild at heart was such fun. Odd, but fun!

 

All the more appropriate, since Tim and Jennifer had just wrapped filming The Hateful Eight not too long before.

 

See the original Twin Peaks gets a higher rating on IMDb to the 2017 follow up.

 

I think I'm satisfied, but I would love more!

I’ll have to revisit it again have old dvd.
I see there’s a blu ray and a 2 dvd version.

 

I think that's all we're gonna get, so I'm content. But if we get another six or eight hours at some point, that'd be cool too.
