Nice! I haven't owned this one since my vinyl days and I remember Joe talking about the Royce Hall show about a year or so ago so it's been on the cards.

I love this album.........probably my big introduction to modern classical music.

    I’ll definitely get this.

    Hm! Interested!

And remastered! I recall now that the 2012 issue used the 1991 digital master...

And, if I might add a further editorial comment: why do the Zappa people do these things so well and why is it so hard to get other artists to follow suit? Granted, other artists don't have Zappa's specific relation to the art of live performance, so, granted, the Zappa people are sitting on a happier trove of material than nearly anyone, but still... Why are Zappa fans about the only ones so well treated?

It's quite expensive on the Zappa store and I imagine that it will stay there. Not an automatic purchase for me, but that live concert does tempt me, especially after Wazoo.

Speculative: I wonder whether the out-of-print status of the 2012 Studio Tan is due to a ZFT interest in issuing more material from this era.

Shame we won't get the two Royce Hall shows in full. Zappa played two shows on 17 and 18 September shredding some nice guitar here and there. There are two decent sounding audience recordings out there, one 96 minutes and the second one 122 minutes. Maybe one day we'll get them in full glory.

I think Zappa didn't record the 17th, only the 18th, and some additional recording without an audience on the 19th.

    Very cool! Nice cover too.

I haven't been buying these multi-disc releases, but happily they have all been on streaming services on day of release, so I will be listening to this one ASAP.

The image is still stored on the zappa.com site, and the filename is zappa_orchestral40th_cdmockup.jpg.

"Mockup" - maybe this wasn't final or was leaked early. Too bad, the mockup alone is a great improvement to the original.

I would assume its just to early to post. The guitar set needs to get traction.

I wish they would continue the albums remastering though!!

    What does that mean?

Are you talking about the TGWATFZ vinyl? I'd like to see a CD of that, even though I could live with my cassette rip or I could cobble together my own approximation from other releases.
    As for Orchestral Favorites, autobuy.
