It’s actually a great criterion. How else to place value on art?

Recently in the CBS morning show Himesh Patel said he sang all the songs live in the film without overdubs...

Ha Ha tough crowd. We saw the film on Saturday and we were three thumbs up. Quite witty in parts, the acting is good, the music was excellent overall a worthwhile experience and a nice unexpected twist near the end. For those that saw the film did everyone catch the drawing of Paul in that scene?

I think if you are looking for anything other than an entertaining fun film you might want to stay away and then we won’t have to listen to your complaints.

But how many people were in your group? If there were 2 people, then it could have been 4 thumbs up. If it was 3 people, then you could have had 6 thumbs up. And if it was 15 people, then it could have been 30 thumbs up---so only 3 thumbs up out of 30 is a bad ratio.

But were the people only allowed 1 thumb up per person?

You have to give us some context here... ;)

Saw it on Saturday night with my wife and two teenage boys. The adults quite liked it; a light, feel-good movie. The boys thought it was just OK. The 15 year-old said the director didn’t know if he was making a comedy or a serious movie. I responded, “You just saw your first ‘date movie’.”

Are you sure they weren't sitting three thumbs up? You know, away from the noisy down thumbers.

I saw the trailer for this and my immediate reaction was that I'm not going to spend money or waste my time on it. Not because I disagree with the premise of the movie (I don't), or even because the world's current blandest pop star that isn't Lewis Capaldi has a cameo appearance in it, but because it looks like it is going to be absolute garbage.

Sure, but then surely your complaint should be "anything written by Richard Curtis in more recent times (especially 'Love, Actually', for which he should be shot), is a no-no". No ?

Some people are "all thumbs". That would make it potentially 10 thumbs up.

I'm no fan of Ed Sheeran, but he was actually more than tolerable in the movie.
