    Hello everyone,
I noticed that the first thread on Liberace was closed due to age, so I figured I'd start a new one. Now some of us like to pick on Liberace's, well, let's say "effeminacy," his very memorable catchphrase "I wish my brother George was here," and don't forget the candelabras! But instead of talking about that, let's talk about your favorite moments of Liberace, his recordings, times you ran into him, etc. I never personally got to meet him, he was dead 17 years before I was born, so that's that. I do love his rendition of "Twelfth Street Rag" from 1954, it's an amazingly fast version of the classic ragtime piece, I was blown away by this man's talent when I first heard it. So anyway, like I said above, talk about your favorite memories of him, etc.
    Ryan

Indeed! He loved to put candelabras on top of his piano.

He was so awesome in his cheesiness, his 50's Columbia catalog is priceless especially that double 10" that came in a picture frame.

An incredible talent who I think doesn't get the respect he deserves as a performer.

I saw him in concert in Saskatoon in June of 1972.

I was 12 years old and my younger brother and I were taking piano lessons, so I guess my dad thought we'd like the show.

The piano playing was incredible and his stage show was mesmerizing. It left quite an impression on me at the time and I still can recall a lot of it these many years later.

He came out for an encore on a dark stage in a suit made of tiny light bulbs!

He truly was Mr. Showman! Not only a terrific pianist but a great entertainer. He made fun and light of himself which added to his popularity.

Liberace wasn't just a guest that night; he cooked! It was the first (and last) installment of a segment the show called "Cooking with Liberace."

As Letterman himself said, "People ask me how we got Bob Dylan on the show. It's very simple. He said 'Is Liberace gonna be there?' We said yes. He said 'Is he gonna cook?' We said yes, he said 'I'll be there.'"

And yeah, Dylan did Jokerman and Don't Start Me to Talking.

I forget what dish Liberace cooked.

    Disagree.
    Majestically whimsical.

Only Lee could pull this off while retaining dignity.

    It's a tad ostentatious.
