Not sure that he hates it so much (the royalties must STILL be incredible), but Billy Joel has often lamented the simplistic nature and monotonous repetition of "Piano Man"...

    Rod Stewart hates "Maggie May."
Tina Turner said she hated "What's Love Got to Do With It" and didn't want to record it initially. But I think she warmed up to it over the years.

way back singer Perry Como apparently disliked the song 'Don't Let The Stars Get in Your Eyes' and only agreed to do just the one take of it....which became a hit single

Cliff Richard wasn't at all keen on 'Living Doll' - until it made no.1 for him in the UK

The Fourmost hated 'A Little Loving' when they first heard it...it made no.6 in the UK and was their biggest hit

while Simon Dupree and The Big Sound lead singer Derek Shulman hated 'Kites' in 1967...which reached no.5 in the UK and was their biggest hit single

Searchers drummer Chris Curtis hated 'Sugar and Spice' so much he refused to sing on it...but was later persuaded to do the vocal 'oooohhhh' links on it - it reached no.2 in the UK

"Smells Like Teen Spirit"-Kurt Cobain got burnt out of hearing this song everywhere he went (not to mention he felt that the song was almost a joke, a rip-off of the Pixies); he would go so far as to not play it in some concerts. Later on his attitude towards it changed, but there was always a chance that if you went to a Nirvana concert, you wouldn't hear that song.

Linda Ronstadt apparently didn’t like anything she recorded in the 70s.

If a song or album of his flops, Elton John usually hates it forever.

Didn’t know Rod hated Maggie May..

Olivia Newton-John hated her Eurovision song, Long Live Love, in 1974.

This wasn’t uncommon, mind, as a fair few singers hated their Eurovision songs... Lulu (Boom Bang A Bang), Sandie Shaw (Puppet On A String) and Mary Hopkin (Knock Knock Who’s There) for starters...

I of course loved all the above songs.

Yeah, Rod said he didn't understand why it became so popular. "Maggie May" was initially the B-side to "Reason to Believe," so it's obvious that he didn't have much faith in the song.

I prefer MM to You Wear It Well. Even though they’re very similar.

George Michael hated "I want your sex" since it sounded like Prince's song. He didn't even add it on his compilation album except its 2nd version.

Simple Minds aren't that enamoured with Don't You (Forget About Me), partly because it's a song they didn't write though they arranged it.

Yes, I seem to remember them saying something similar in an old issue of Q magazine.

    Ouch!

Due to The Hollies court case, they have to pay to write like that!

They also mentioned that at one stage they regretted the profanity.

Beastie Boys were rather embaressed by "Fight for Your Right" later on and stopped playing it at their shows.
