Mick seemed a bit lost. Wish Keith would dominate the rhythm here since it's really the secret ingredient of the track. Frankly, I don't think they've ever played it right since 1981/2.

    If Stones 2015 are a 9, what would Stones 1969 have been - a 27? :D

I did vote for it. Didn't have very high hopes though.

Um. Among the listed webvote songs... "Highway Child"?? YT says it's an outtake.

    I vote YES!

(Edit: "watch?v=WS4cVHznhHk" still brings up "Highway Child" for me.)

The other video must have played through and started the next one on the playlist.

You can probably find it again if you search on Youtube.

Last night's funniest moment: At 7:42 Keith totally screws up and plays the intro again. You can see him and Woody laugh afterward, you can't see the confused look Charlie was giving on the jumbo screens.

I still have no firm plans to go, but if I did, I would definitely cut out before the encores. I haven't yet seen/heard a "Gimme Shelter"/"Satisfaction" from this tour that really sets the world on fire. But looking forward to "Start Me Up" and "Brown Sugar" are new and unfamiliar feelings.

I did not see them live then. But in 1969 they did not have the cohesive, grooving, soulful keyboard and horn section providing the great backing that exists now. It was a different kind of excellent.

"Gimme Shelter" and "Satisfaction" set the world on fire when I saw them live in 2015.

The Stones in 1969 - 1973 were the best rock band in history. They are way out on the edge of the bell curve, but they get a 10 because that’s the highest you can get.

It’s like Stephen Hawking getting an 800 on his math SAT.

To each his own. I didn't see/hear anything from 2015 that really made me want to be there. This tour is a big improvement (IMHO).

I did attend a concert in 2015 (in Kansas City, at Arrowhead Stadium) which has been described by others as one of the most rocking shows on the tour.

Didn't look like a screw up to me. Keith appears to have done it purposefully since he ends the riff with a clear exclamation point and a smile. Mick appears amused.

Regardless that Keith was joking I'm surprised he even did it at all. They usually keep the song's reverence throughout the whole performance.

Could have been a joke, could also be Keith realizing in mid-riff that he screwed up and everybody seeing the humor in it. During the actual show, Charlie's face was on the video screen and he clearly had a WTF look going on.

Naahhhh, they had Mick Taylor wanking all over the place for the next few years, so minus several million for that. Fortunately, Ronnie soon came on board to get back to the ancient art of weaving!

1969 was my favorite tour. I just can't get enough of those shows. The band was touring the US for the first time in years. They were finishing up recording the music for the epic Sticky Fingers album and were energized by Mick Taylor joining the band. The band and setlist was stripped back and raw and the band just got up and played without all the backup singers, horn section and rock star diva vibe and famous hangers on.

JMO but I love the way they played the songs that tour. Midnight Rambler and Sympathy for the Devil had perfect pacing and Taylor's solos really drove those songs. I always felt that starting with the 1972 tour they sped the songs up too much and killed to mojo for me.

Different strokes for different folks as I thought Gimme Shelter was a highlight for me last night. My 13 yr old daughter waited all night for Satisfaction and was dancing and singing along in the aisle. Getting out of the parking lot afterwards was a nightmare but glad we stayed for the encores.

MT couldn't play like Keith, that was the problem. Fortunately, honest Ron would save the day!

That was what made it more interesting. They didn't sound alike.

But it didn't mesh. What made the Stones great, and different, is that they didn't have a Jimmy Page soloing all over the place. The addition of Ronnie took them back to the classic Keith/Brian era.
