Abbey Road 50th Anniversary Discussion. What Can We Expect?

I just want that 24/96 “direct transfer” goodness. Hope whoever’s in charge of what makes it onto these sets is actively reading these threads…

He is not. Those tape to digital transfers weren’t very good and have been redone since.

 

It was tounge in cheek . They really aren't that bad though.

 

I want a AAA copy is all I'm asking. That and a good 5.1 with outtakes in 5.1

You are right though, the AR rock band mixes aren’t bad, but I can hear a certain harshness and strange “distance” in those transfers that aren’t present in later mixes of the same material.

 

Unfortunately, They wouldn't release a 5.1 mix without a new stereo mix.

It’s not that. I am talking about the general sound of all the Rock Band transfers. Something is off with them.

 

If that's the case, how come they still put Revolution 9 on the White Album instead of Hey Jude?

 

Well, besides the cut and pasting, it's dolby digital. That's probably what how you're hearing it

No. It’s inherent in the stereo mixes too. And the stems. They just aren’t good transfers.

 

I guess because Revolution 9 was actually part of the WA...strictly a guess

Did it. Ringo mentions (wrongly) remastering instead of remixing?

Could Macca be suggesting there IS a transfer of the original mix included? So when Ringo says remaster, he’s not technically being incorrect? He may have heard the flat transfer (in addition to the new mix)?
