Abbey Road 50th Anniversary Discussion. What Can We Expect?

Apple did duplicate the same content in the DVD and Blu-ray of Pepper 50.

Assuming the 6 disc information is valid, I would think they are doing the same configuration as Pepper (1 CD remix, 1 CD original mix, 2 CDs sessions, DVD, BD). But I give maccawings a lot of credit, and he says the info is incorrect, so let's wait and see.

 

It's not a question of "Believe what you wish"; I don't "believe" anything at this point. I was simply saying that you have not unequivocally said that there would not be a six-disc set. If you want to avoid "bicker[ing] about things", then you could provide an unambiguous response to my question and simply say that it is your belief that there will not be a six-disc set.

 

Wasn't the album done fairly fast at least compared to their recent sessions for Sgt Peppers, White Album and the Let It Be albums. So there probably isn't a lot of extras.

I see that we have different ideas as to what "unambiguous" means, but OK, that's all from me on this.

 

Here's hoping they do a remastered AAA release of the original mix, pressed at Pallas, in 180G, with a really nice thick cover, and call it a day.

 

That's all the confirmation I need. But how are they going to fill more than 6 discs?

CD 1 - remix
CD 2 to 4 - sessions
CD 5 - naked version (without orchestra and effects)
Blu Ray - same style of WA

 

My bad, you’re right there was a DVD in Pepper 50. Given its redundancy, it’s never left the box and I totally forgot about it.

What I would like is for Apple to include hires downloads similar to Macca Archives. It would save me a lot of cumbersome Bluray ripping.

 

They all seem to forget that last year Apple deleted the DVD for WA50.

Quite possibly! In a way, Abbey Road has nothing left to prove; it's knows it's a fine LP, whereas Let It Be has everything to gain to overturn it's poor reputation and associated negative vibe! If the 56 hours of footage and 140+ hours of audio really are the treasure trove they are now rumoured to be, a huge package is justified and warranted! I'm very excited and hopeful for the LIB set!

Please consider that we normal folks don’t know what’s going on at the Kremlin, so we must guess and comment on what we’ve got.

Anyway, there were 6 discs for Pepper, why Abbey Road should be reduced to a two or three discs set? I don’t get it.
We’re talking about months of recordings here as well. Am I wrong?

 

Well you can knock off a disc for DVD and you can also knock off another disc that was the original mono mix for Pepper. This set will almost definitely be four discs

Disc 1: Remix
Discs 2+3: Outtakes
Disc 4: Blu Ray

 

Hmmmmm, some tracks already on Anthology 3, well maybe we will get 'Something' different, like more overdubs or less overdubs, maybe just the same

 

I think Maccawings is trying to head off unrealistic expectations without betraying confidences and we all really understand the 'meaning' here. It is not a great idea to upset the people who will give us timely information when allowable. Thanks Maccawings and Mike. Don't get put off dropping in here, we do mostly appreciate your comments and appreciate the strings that come with these.
