'Willy Wonka' Actress Denise Nickerson Dead at 62

And now we’re losing the kids from that movie.

 

Very sad to read she took her own life, most likely due to her health problems following last year's stroke. Hopefully she found the peace she was seeking.

 

We knew that this would be coming.

 

If you mean by "taking her own life" that she had a massive seizure and her family decided to take her off life support, then yeah, she did kill herself. #fakenews

 

Some new information:

On July 8, 2019, Nickerson accessed and ate various medications while her son and daughter-in-law were out of the house. Her son took her to a hospital in respiratory distress. In the intensive care unit, she developed pneumonia. On July 9, she had a massive seizure and went comatose.

 

Roll your eyes all you want, but it had already been reported by her family, before Denise died, that she had intentionally taken as much medication as she could find. That's what led to the hospitalization and, ultimately, her death. It's even mentioned in the article that the OP linked to.

Took her OWN life? My understanding was that her Family pulled the plug.

 

As posted above, she took as many meds as she could all at once, per her family.

 

Her first regular work was on ABC's DARK SHADOWS where she played the roles of Amy Jennings and Nora Collins.

“It is dreadfully sad. Denise has been like a sister to me and we were very close. She had a massive stroke last July and never really recovered. Paris [Themmen] (Mike Teevee) and I went to visit her in September. It was a very sad visit as she couldn’t verbally communicate. But we sang songs — Willy Wonka of course! And that made her smile and laugh.”
