12/31/19 indicates that the release date is either not specified, or the release is canceled.

 

It has been discussed widely [in a prior thread] that it seems to have been a needledrop of a badly pressed bootleg...

[Because the original mix was purged by EMI in the 70's.]

Sometimes it happened that a book in the Box was also considered as a CD.

@XC70 while you're at it, any other surprise deluxe editions coming this year?

 

If they include the early mix of The Long One, as appears to be the case, then this will not just be the same medley with Her Majesty stuck in the middle.

The early mix, as included on bootlegs, has alternate vocals, different crossfades, basic tracks without overdubs, etc. It'll be nice to have it in studio quality.

 

I thought it would be included too. But thinking about it, I can see why they didn't. The stereo albums are the standard now, the ones you can buy individually. The 2009 remasters are the officially Apple-sanctioned versions of those. While the mono box was intended for purists and hardcore fans, and you couldn't buy the CDs individually.

So including a different mastering of Abbey Road would clash with the current official version.

I'm thinking: maybe Paul wants to keep that for a release of his own.

I alwayst thought Paul/MPL were saving Goodbye for his own "Anthology" type set. They didn't include it on McCartney Archive edition which was quite short of bonus material (actually Come And Get It would've also fit there).

Yet Goodbye now shows up on Abbey Road (assuming that track list is final). Perhaps he thinks the Lennon-McCartney credit makes it more suitable for Beatle project inclusion rather than solo?

 

Surely. And it can also be one of those Apple negotiation thing: "Ok, you can keep Come and Get It for your compilation, but you have to give us Goodbye for Abbey Road"

So one place says no hi res stereo direct transfer and another place says there will be. I really hope we get one

Well, if it's vintage [ie, from an acetate made for the band, which was the purpose of assembling the medley at that stage], it would have preliminary mixes, not the ones we grew up listening to, so there could be some revelation in the earlier, sloppier mixes. [Different from what's available on boot? Who knows at this stage??]
