The informations says it's 23 singles. So, the 22 official UK singles, and one extra. Which one?

The idea of mine you quoted fits 23 singles, but if we wanna go down the 22 UK plus path, I'll bet on the additional one being "The Long and Winding Road" or "Yesterday".

    I admit I'm really confused.

A singles vinyl box set came out in 2011 or 2012. I can't find anything online that speaks to a new singles box set coming out this year.

The 2011 box was only four singles, and an RSD exclusive at first (IIRC). There's a mystery box coming out this year, which has now been confirmed as a box of 23 singles on vinyl.

Ah, ok, I misunderstood your post. In any case, I don't see them dropping Love Me Do, being the first single they released. It would be a baffling omission to many. I think it's the 22 UK singles plus one specifically created for this box (not sure what).

I hate to think about losing b-sides here, but... maybe "Free As a Bird" b/w "Real Love"?

If this singles box set is in place of an Abbey Road remastering, that would be really disappointing.

Both are on. Check the Abbey Road 50 thread - we just got a tracklisting for it this morning! :righton:

@mikecarrera just confirmed "FAAB" and "RL" are included. I think I guessed it right!

So, the other big question: is it AAA?
EDIT: The main 22 singles, I mean. Not FAAB/RL. Hope these two are in the new mixes from the 1+ box...

    06) "Can't Buy Me Love"
    07) "A Hard Day's Night"
    08) "I Feel Fine"
    09) "Ticket to Ride"
    10) "Help!"
    11) "Day Tripper"/"We Can Work It Out"
    12) "Paperback Writer"

Super on the fence about this one. I LOVE 45s and right now I have a partial collection of the original 45s (almost all without the picture sleeves). They're in varying conditions, mostly not great, but they play.

Do I spend a ton of money on a complete collection of pristine 45s or do I put my money towards completing an original collection? I assume these have been at least remastered, if not remixed in some cases?

No word on the sound yet, but I'm betting either mastered straight AAA or remixed. Either end of the spectrum.

As for what to buy... hold off until you see a price. It could sway your thinking one way or another. And knowing these products, that could be a huge sway.

I never knew that Real Love was the b-side of Free As A Bird.
I was sure it was its follow up single actually.

I'm going to continue collecting the original real things. Nothing beats the original when it comes to history and authenticity.

This new set is just a money play. Not enough to entice me.

The indication is that they're being condensed into one single for this boxset.

I don't need a box of singles I DON'T already have; I wouldn't play them, even though I'm an easy mark for Beatles releases.
I can see how this would make a lot of people happy, though.

Remixes or original? That’s the question to me.

    Please, NO REMIXES.

In a perfect world, it's the mix used on the original singles. Mono up until stereo-only.

I think my enthusiasm for the project is directly proportional to the amount of QC involved...

AAA cuts from the original master tapes, pressed by Optimal-- I'm in!

Cut from digital files, pressed by, say, MPO-- no thanks! (After the "Blood on the Tracks - Test Pressing" debacle, can you imagine giving MPO twenty-three separate chances to screw something up in the same boxed set...?!?)

I think the Vinyl Mono Box Set (AAA 2014) plus the Blue Album (AAA 2014) contains all the singles except the new single FAAB/RL. For the singles boxset, I think it's reasonable that they use this work already done and that, by the way, was very well done.
