Everything filed under jazz or prog rock in my collection.

    And The Incredible String Band.

My wife does't like jazz at all - for her it is all about the vocals. I do love vocals - however the lyrics really tire me and prevent me from listing to vocals over and over. I can listen to jazz over and over and get lost in it - she cannot.

I like to be by myself when I listen to music - my time away.

Anything by someone who "can't sing", e.g. Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Van Morrison, Tom Waits...

Sorry, that's not a "piece of music", but you get the idea.

Strangely, she doesn't react negatively to the Incredible String Band, unlike our sons.

My wife loathes most hard rock and metal, but she abhors AC/DC with irrational zeal.

I'm on a Bill Evans journey it seems - bought a few albums couple of years ago - and recently read about him - and watched the great documentary - Bill Evans Time Remembered - awesome that it was on Amazon prime. Really great. Before the documentary I received - live at the village vanguard vinyl box set - been listening to that for the last few days.

Used to be with a girl that extremely hated and made fun of me for liking 80s new wave music like early Duran Duran, Japan, a-ha et al.

Points for abhoring with irrational zeal!

I wouldn't say I love Pink Floyd and Rush but I like them both quite a bit. (more Floyd than Rush) but my wife will not under any circumstances tolerate me listening to either without serious protest.

Funny - my wife and I fight a bit about AC/DC - she was fortunate enough as a teen to see the Back in Black concert (80's) - I'm a Bon Scott AC/DC fan - not so much for new AC/DC though I find them 'OK'.

I'm always trying to play If you want blood you've got it - but she wants Back n Black.
