    I'm awfully fond of:

    LOU REED

All good songs and Lou sings them well. Rather poorly produced, but with a nice friendly feel to it. A casual get together and a general closet-clearing exercise. Represents one direction he might have gone in: relatively sincere singer-songwriter.

    LEGENDARY HEARTS

One great song after another until the last one. Great little band, with Quine still onboard (though mixed down). Lou as the average guy he sang about on his previous album, trying get comfortable with marriage and overcome the last of his many demons.

    ECSTASY

I'm not always up for "Like A Possum," but otherwise I'm down with every song.

The Blue Mask is the one I love, far more than anything else he ever did, including the VU. There is just something about it. There are some great other tracks he did with the VU and solo, but as far as albums go, The Blue Mask is the only one I feel I deeply appreciate from start to finish.

"Legendary Hearts" is my favorite Lou Reed album - but if you're suggesting "Rooftop Garden" is a poor song, we're not on the same page. I love that track.

I don't think it's as good as the others, but I wouldn't call it "poor." It's fine for what it is, it just doesn't do much for me

I have the 12" single of Street Hassle which is my favourite of his solo stuff that I've heard, but haven't heard the album. Transformer is great, and I like the laid back strangeness of Coney Island Baby. I have to be in the mood for Berlin to be able enjoy it. New York was a fine album. Not so keen on his debut though.

The story of Quine smashing his copy is Legendary. Would love to hear a new mix but it's fine as is.

Forgot to mention that I listened to Metal Machine Music for the first time earlier in the year. Really enjoyed it, but it may be a long time before I'm ready for a second listen.

    My favs:
Transformer, solid. Bowie, Ronson, a great addiction!
New Sensations, remember my times wandering through Europe 25 years ago. These songs were the backdrop!
New York, took on his critics and rebounds his career until the end!
