And, of course, because they’re UK singles, no need for these:

  6. I'm hopig they include fascimiles of people's singatures on the labels as it seems everyone in the UK was obsessed with writing their names on their records.

Haha! Every single record my dad owned has the Star of David on for some reason. He’s not Jewish and doesn’t remember why he did that. Makes me smile at least.

What's on the other side? The continuing story of Fran the Fan? Sponsored by a hairdryer?

No. That particular vintage had EMI-related ads on the back:

The front of the ‘sponsored’ ones looked like this (with variations):

I bought all 22 CD3 singles, they were all in longboxes as well.
    They look like these:

And let's not forget the 20th aniversary picture discs:

Why does that 89 box look so much bigger than the other CD singles collection I have (92?) and why did they release 2 so close in time? Looks like those are all foldout sleeves and must contain more info? I wasn't aware of the 3" version.

I had no idea there was a 3” CD box of their singles until today. Amazing.

3" CD singles are a nice compliment to regular size CDs. It's replication of 7" singles and 12" albums.

Of course, I would only say that a long time ago as now there are CD playing methods that can't automatically play 3" CDs.

So 27 years since the singles have been available. That’s a long time so I’m really glad there will be an opportunity to get these in one place again. :)
