Wow! They're actually doing What If...? which, in the context of a tv show, could be a very interesting Twilight Zone-meets-Marvel kind of scenario. The comics could be interesting at times.

I feel as if I witnessed the peak of the MCU already.

It appears they're going into STAR TREK/STAR WARS territory with the Guardians and special guest star, Thor, and Captain Marvel, which presumably is where the next big villain will be.

Blade looks interesting. curious to see what they do with X-men and fantastic 4. the rest is a bit underwhelming. we'll see how it plays out.

How much is the Disney streaming service going to be again?

Too much. We really shouldn't encourage this sort of thing.

Seems like a mistake to wait that long for a second "Black Panther". The first was such a smash - why wait 4+ years for a sequel?

I think the sequel will still come. Plenty more opportunity to delve into the Quantum Realm and even more time with Janet too.

Everything they put out is a "smash" it seems. What was the last one that didn't live up to financial expectations?

I'm pretty much burnt out on these, myself. Haven't seen the last three (Capt. Marvel, Endgame, Spiderman Homecoming). I'll probably see the new SpiderMan on video. Maybe I'll see Black Widow or the Doctor Strange sequel when they come out. Some of the titles referenced above don't register with me at all, as I don't know the comic background. I have no idea what Eternals, WandaVision, Shang-Chi or What If are about.

You're right that all the MCU films have done well, but even by MCU standards, "Black Panther" was a huge smash.

It's the 2nd highest grossing superhero movie in the US and 4th worldwide.

It's the biggest period that's not an Avengers movie.

Just seems like a strange choice to wait a minimum of 4 years before fans get another chapter. None of the other characters went 4 years between (non-Avengers) adventures!

Looks like a lot of filler, specifically the Disney+ stuff. People aren't going to show up at cinemas to see Mackie, Stan, Renner on a $100M movie without the rest of the gang.

I would for Elizabeth Olsen, but I can understand why she got a TV show, only.

The Eternals looks intriguing, the presence of semi-retired Angelina Jolie on a live action movie is enough for me to book a ticket already

With the exception of Thor ("Dark world" 2013; "Ragnarok": 2017; "Love and thunder" 2021)

The new Doctor Strange film will be released 5 years after the first one.

And of course, "Black Widow" aside, I expect all the new MCU films to take place from 2023 onwards :D

I'm going to ignore Marvel/Disney until they're brave enough to finally release Millie the Model!

Oops - you're right! That's what I get for going on lousy memories instead of looking at the actual dates! :hide:

Still, I think it's odd that Marvel would delay a Black Panther sequel simply because the 1st one was so massive. The Thor and Strange movies weren't nearly as successful, and "BP" became a genuine cultural phenomenon - heck, it got nominated for Best Picture!

Just seems strange that they'd let the character "cool off" for so long!

True, but there are many more characters and combinations getting movies now than there were when it was just Iron Man, Thor and Captain America.
