I did not realize (until this thread) that Monty Python started in 1969. I would have thought it was earlier.

PS Does anyone know how I would have seen MP on Canadian TV back then? CBC?

First aired on the CBC in the autumn of 1970. (Monty Python A Chronology 1969 - 2012. 2nd Edition. By Douglas McCall. Page 10.) This was a year after it debuted on the BBC.

I also recall the show being broadcast on Global during the mid '70s.

P.S. If you watched a PBS station in the mid '70s you may have seen it there. After a sketchy start on American TV in 1974, by the spring of 1975 MPFC was airing on more than 50 PBS stations. (BTW, the last original episode aired on the BBC on December 5, 1974.)

There is a newer Holy Grail Blu-Ray, in the US anyway, with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track.

Those film inserts look great don't they? I get it though; at the time it was just necessary to rush a print for playback on the film chain into the VT. BUt man, there's so much dirt and sparkle and weave. Many look like they were dragged around on the floor...

Thankfully Gilliam held onto many if not all of the original animations. And all of the film inserts for series 4 are in existence, that one should look spectacular.

Not only does it have a lossless copy of the original mono track, but it has the original trailer instead of the re-release trailer like the previous blu-ray. Might have to spend the $15 and upgrade I think!

If you're upgrading, then this is the one you need. Launch animals at your friends while they try to watch the movie!
