I see, the devil's in the detail  the title "swinging London" had me thinking of the mid-60s... but still, even if the premise is late 60s London, that whole mood could still be captured, in my opinion.

Right? Then the only anachronism would be the Dusty track and (possibly) Pink Floyd.

Curiously (and sadly), neither this track nor Fat Angel (see below) was issued in the UK until 1994 (!)

  12. Here’s a “curveball” from Jimi that Tarantino would love on a soundtrack!

The former two are fitting for me - I'm talking about the overall mood of that time, so songs released before 1964 by bands who were either part of the invasion or very influential to it belong in such a film for me.

  18. Yes!

I had this Searchers’ jangly gemstone:

I would think access to the KPM Production Music Library would do half his work for him. Just look over any of 350 LP's from right around the Nixon Era, with "Action" in the title, for cues by Alan Hawkshaw, Laurie Johnson & Syd Dale.

And, in case the script calls for some pathetic American tool showing up, there's always the NFL Films music library...testosterone a'plenty!
(Always wondered why there was no track in there named, "Bull In China Shop...with strings".)

I don't want to spoil the fun or go off on a tangent, but as good as Tarantino is a curating songs for his films, I wonder how much his esoteric and wide-ranging selections are informed by the fact that some of the more obvious choices are cost-prohibited? Once Upon a Time in Hollywood doesn't contain tracks by superstars, so he is forced to dig deeper.

Similarly a hypothetical soundtrack to a fantasy film about Swinging London would be unlikely to include the more well-known or cool tracks by more popular stars and would include almost-forgotten tracks by obscure acts , rarely-heard instrumentals--perhaps featuring a sitar-- and a big thick slab of Tom Jones/Englebert Humperdinck-type cheese.

There would be Hendrix, Cream or Beatles.

  24. Snark = fail. What’s your point?

  25. No, the choices are way deeper than your hypothesis, don’t worry - you haven’t spoiled the fun for me.
