I'm glad I've made that obvious. Now no one needs to speculate.

Don't you think it matters he formed and named the band and make so many incredible contributions to their music? Or gave Jagger/Richards 50 more years of luxury?

If you knew anything about the Stones you'd know they don't go for mawkish nostalgia like McCartney does. And yeah, all that "new generic music" they made since 1968/69 ... But anyway, thanks for trying to hijack the thread. Can we get back to grinders and hoagies now?

    A nice one dimensional summary.

Jones laid the groundwork--well great. That didn't really help the band any more in the late 70's and early 80's when they were holding on to dear life trying to stay current. A challenge that they met with great success. After that, they worked tirelessly to become one of the greatest touring acts--still doing it today into their mid-70's.

Mick and Keith can thank Brian all they want but it's still Mick and Keith (and Ronnie and Charlie) who are still out there schleping around the world doing the work.

So true, and neither do 99% of the fans.
Listen, I truly love the BJ era Stones, absolutely classic stuff but I’ve been around enough women (my Sister being one) who had to live with mean,Evil, abusive men, and it’s not a pretty thing at all. So do I have AFFECTION for Brian, no.
He was a prick in the highest sense of the word, but he did give birth to the Greatest Rock And Roll band in the world, and for THAT I’m grateful to him, but that’s as far as it goes.
I can NEVER have feelings far any man that smacks a Woman!

They played "Have Mercy" for him that night for the first time since Hyde Park - they just didn't make a big corny spectacle about it, as that's not, nor has it ever been, the Stones' style.

    Thank God.

The fact that the band is still currently active and that the name itself still means something to the music world is enough.

Interesting point. Oddly enough, it strikes me that Brian was more akin to a Yoko toward the end.
