I wonder what the first lead track will be. All of the songs are supposedly 10+minutes. Here's hoping for a studio version of Descending!

Since it's Thursday here's a throwback to when I met Adam less than a month before they'd officially start recording the new album.

  3. Hope there's guest rapping on every track by Jay Z, Kanye, Kendrick, Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Billy Eilish, Billy Ray, Lil Kim and every bad UK mumble rapper

How much would Tool fans hate Tool if they did that?? Hahaaaaaaa

I think if Tool were gonna have a rapper on their album, it'd be Tricky.

The Tool catalog is up on streaming. Listening to the entirety of Lateralus on Spotify now, it's been quite some time since I sat for the whole thing.

No Salival though unfortunately, I hope it gets added eventually.

I would have loved to seen that, maybe not on a Tool album, but perhaps Maynard collaborating with him somewhere. Tricky was in the "Parabola" video.

I’m %30 sure it will contain any actual good songs.
Iffy band, will I buy the cd, probably, will I be disappointed again,....probably.

    We will see.

    Not the best songwriters.

The Tool catalogue is on Hdtracks in 96/24. Hopefully the new album will be there when it’s released.

Apple is showing these albums as being "Mastered For iTunes".

Early days (hours, indeed!) yet, but it would be great to hear from anyone who buys these albums from either HD Tracks or other platforms and whether or not they are worth the upgrade for those of us still listening to the original CD's.

    Thanks.

Here is what the DR database is showing for 10,000 days. Not much different.

Fascinating concept. Chime in on a thread for a band you appear to dislike. Spend your money on the same band’s album that you also feel is incapable of writing quality songs.

When you go out to dinner, do you pick your least favorite item on the menu just to tell your friends how bad it is?

If I can take a guess, I think it is basically a similar situation with the Undertow CD, it's not truly more dynamic but when preparing the 24 bit files they made them so it is compliant with MFiT, and these were the same files sold on HDTracks. I'm not in a position to do a careful level matched comparison for at least a week.

I finally made it through all of that JRE podcast- is Maynard accurate in saying they never played an album live start to finish? I could swear they did just that early on the 10000 Days tour. At least for me hearing it live made me like the album so much more. I actually listen to it and Lateralus more than any of their other albums.

I think it is probably accurate. I went to several shows on the Days tour. Although they did perform 90% of the album, they definitely had a few of the older staples mixed in.

The second time I saw them the set list was definitely more varied. At 90% I could see why I remembered it as the full album.

I am not a marketing genius but if you just put your long awaited past albums on streaming services that would also be the perfect time to put the preorder up for your new album.

That’s the plan according to their social media. We should also get album art, lead single and preorder info at some point today.

Edit- misread it. Still unclear as to preorder info. Could’ve sworn it was today but it would’ve made sense.
