    let's keep this concise.
No comments on format issues, prices, where you ordered it from, when mine is coming, which version I ordered - we have a 460+ page thread for that

This thread - streamlined to talk about the music
Please Stick to the musical content
The outtakes - what they are releasing
    The remastering
    What a revelation this is
    The sound quality
    Comparing this to bootlegs

Things trickle out initially then Thread flourishes 9/27

    Enjoy...

Thank you for making this thread, I feel like this will be greatly beneficial for people like me who want to talk about the music and less about shipping lol

I am really liking the mix of Something so far, different but as with Giles' output with the Beatles albums so far, very tastefully done in my opinion

Do we have a breakdown of what to expect (based on the take numbers etc) yet?

I seem to remember there was pretty good analysis for the White Album box contents once it was confirmed.

Certainly one would hope that said Beatle chronologists would share insight into this.
It would also be lovely if Giles had Something up his sleeve

Is that medley vocals isolated track part of this release? Rockband extract? A nice homemade version with minimal bleedthrough?

It is fascinating to hear the harmonies, Paul's overdubbing and the bare bones yet complex aspect.

What I like about Something remix is that while the bass is (predictably) made to sound like a double bass, is with better definition and less boomy compared to the 2009 remaster. What I don't like is that even during the solo the bass and drums dominates the picture, and the solo is sort of burried in the mix. In the original they are tamed down a bit in order the solo guitar to shine better.

As other have said in the other thread, i would have liked to have a high res original mix included in the bluray, which has enough space.

That high harmony vocal line during You Never Give Me Your Money is staggeringly beautiful.

I already posted this in another thread before I spotted this one.
Somebody posted a beautiful version of "You Never Give Me Your Money etc." with Paul just singing on his own without any backing.
Can somebody verify if this is on the new de-luxe edition? (It probably is but I need to know. :))

It’s not. There are no acapellas on the set. It is made from the rock band stems.

I felt the same about the solo, the lead guitar could’ve been made slightly more prominent. I compared it to Giles Love mix and thought it feels just right there.

It’s all a subjective though and I quite like the new mix!

Damn! Too good to be true. Why the hell didn't they include this instead of bloody orchestral backing tracks?
    At least they're on YouTube!
    Thanks for the reply.

Not keen on the beatles songs without any beatles on them myself. But i see in these threads that a lot of people enjoy them....
Not keen on acapellas either, and you enjoy that. It just goes to show how we all enjoy different stuff.
    Nothing wrong with that ofcourse.

I think the strings sound great for something, really like the demo as well with the added piano. Anthology version clocks in around 3:19 and new demo runs about 3:37.

Were you listening to Spotify version or the YouTube one? I did some comparisons (based on that compressed YouTube AAC audio track) and think that the new mix is not bad, BUT I'm really eager to get the proper hi-res files, and do level matched comparisons. There might be different limiting applied to that YouTube files which might create different impression etc.

It was quick listen on Apple Music (256 kbps AAC). The hires files will also be my go-to once the box arrives.

The guitar solo bit was really a first impression nitpick, it’s not in anyway detracting from my enjoyment of the new mix. These are just little personal preferences...

I find the bass less pronounced, has less distortion and is more round sounding on the remix, while the remaster is hard panned to the right and has more definition.

wow - the thread is taking off nicely
    great

reference links to sources is very helpful - thanks

Something with strings only the intro sounds very melancholy.
was the extra time on the intro?

Shame they didn't include the acapella versions of the medley or other songs - (Come Together with backing) on the two outtakes lps
my son has rockband - is there a way to extract the vocals - or an easy to access source online that could be dropped down to 24/44 redbook or to stream?
I would Love to get this digitally in high res too

All things must pass would have been great
certainly they did something similar on songs that didn't make the cut on The White Album then were released on solo albums
Macca get's Come and Get It

what isn't here that should be chronologically and would most likely show up on a LIB box?

Is there any overlap between the 2019 outtakes and the Anthology 3?

Darn. I was hoping this thread would be for outtakes only. I don't want to wade through the impending remix squabbles.

I'm hearing a lot more high frequency clarity on the "Something" remix. Sounds great on my system.

Well, I understand your fears! :) But to me a different mix is the next most interesting thing to an outtake. I want to learn about the differences people hear - I can do without the "they should have ... how dare they ..." and consider the remixes as interesting alternatives not as revised history. It only becomes revised history if it tries to replace "old" history. But let us not go there. On with the thread - I love it!
