Let It Be 50th Anniversary -Twickenham Rehearsals: What and how?

If done well, this is the only Beatles remix I'd buy.

 

This one actually sounds pretty good (aside from the audio quality), so it's certainly doable.

 

I wonder if the Twickenham recordings can be demixed, and reassembled into stereo...with improved balance.

 

Worse than drunken campfire singalongs. They sound bored an uninspired.

Yeah I was only talking about the Twickenham stuff. The Apple studio stuff they can of course use to a great degree.

 

Yeah, in today's hyper climate the Fab four would be branded hard core racists straight off and no one would hear the sarcasm. In fact many people are probably ignorant to the concept of sarcasm.

 

"I Lost My Little Girl," "Watching Rainbows," "All Things Must Pass," "Suzy Parker" and the fast electric "Two of Us" should be essentials to this disc IMHO. And to be honest about the narrative, at least a portion of the John/Yoko/Paul/Ringo jam recorded after George walked out. That could be half the tracks we get right there. Plus some other shorters snippets like "Paul's Piano Piece" that were on "Fly on the Wall".

 

Thanks! I went through the whole A/B Road bootleg series (that's 97 plus hours) documenting those January 1969 sessions, and on the first days they rehearsed ATMP quite a few times. From those performances I took the best parts and assembled this version (which is a stereo mix made with mono elements from the rehearsals). It didn't take me too long, and I know it could still be so much improved upon. I wish Giles/Apple will try something like this!

 

But even on the Twickenham material they could edit those beeps out, and assemble stereo "versions" using different "takes" of any given song, or even maybe some new demixing technology. Of course, someone should listen to the almost hundred hours of recorded material and cherrypick the best out of it. The Fly On The Wall CD on LIBN is no representation whatsoever of those rehearsals.

 

Even more than those, John's rocking version of "Honey, Hush" has to be included...

Yeah of course, there's lots! Just listing a few favorites off the top of my head.

 

Always preferred the (albeit somewhat rough) faster take of "All Things Must Pass" with John on piano to these slow, dirge-like versions.

 

I heard hours of that over the years, enough to feel empathy for the professional who is assigned the job!

 

Yes, and there are some interesting instrumental jams which can be edited down to tight performances. I've done it myself also.

I'm a big fan of "Watching a Rainbows". I really hope that they include this tune. But my gut tells me that someone will veto it.

 

I have the Thirty Days bootleg set. Listening to it felt like 30 years...

 

This seems sensible to me. Given the scope of their recent Deluxe editions and their historical tendency to keep Let It Be ratcheted down and controlled, I don’t see a complete or even comprehensive approach from them.
