By Ortofon do you mean Concordes?

Simply follow the GR manual and the manual that will come with the cartridge you will choose. That should be enough.

Right. Now that I think about it the Blue I had was the one Turntable Lab sells on a SH-4 headshell. It was perfect. Nice cart.

Word is that the MK II 2M PnPs are superior as the weight of the headshell has been reduced so counterweight is unnecessary. I have not heard one.

How does one know what a "MK2" PnP is?

Did an alignment jig not arrive with the table?

Try it, I'm pretty sure you'll be able. This is a good cartridge.

If you were to use the Technics gauge i'm guessing it's better to be slightly longer ie 52.5mm as slightly shorter?

The included Technics gauge is plenty sufficient to align a cartridge. I have a fancy one, but the Technics is all I use now.

PNP is the MM version of a SPU used by Audiophiles since the 1940s & the 1st moving coil cartridge & ranges to $5,000
PNP also fitted by Technics for Audio shows

PnP just means "plug n play". It may have been used since 1940's, but in today's world, it's not the optimal solution, or everyone would be using it and swearing by it. Please look around this forum and tell me honestly if you see prevalence of PnP carts here...

I wouldn’t put too much stock in this forum compared to places like TurntableNeedles or LPGear. If you order a premounted cart from those kind of places, it will arrive dialed in and ready to roll. Book it.

IMO, you’re all set with the 2M Blue that was included in your package. If you decide you want a different cartridge sound or want to try a more advanced stylus profile, then it’s time to shop, but for now I really think all you need to do is set up the 2M Blue and start enjoying some records.

I would think wrong is wrong, one way or the other, but I don’t see any reason not to get it right on. It’s really very easy to line up.

Set up the Blue and see if it's not just cart related.
Did the protractor disagree with the jig?

Unless the protractor is meant for the Technics alignment, it’s not going to work right with the overhange set by the gauge.

It was the first time I used the jig, it was a bit off the protractor null points, I am practising I guess.
