A single member. Band name remains.

Doesn't have to be a band - could be a long-time guitarist of a solo artist.

Although I still enjoy a lot of R.E.M.'s later material, there was a big drop off after Bill Berry left.

As soon as I saw the thread title I made a mental bet with myself that someone would say Pete Best within the first three reply-posts. I win !

I think Mike Pinder quitting was a big loss for the Moody Blues.

  24. Kansas when Steve Walsh left. Vinyl Confessions had a couple of nice tracks, but it had their worst-ever leadoff single and wasn't even close to earlier heights. The band actually fit Elefante's voice better with the more AOR-oriented Drastic Measures.
