    Thanks a lot.
Speaking of German, I like how they "translated" the title of Monty Python's And Now for Something for the German BR - Wunderbare Welt der Schwerkraft. It's in fact something completely different :) And sounds "properly German"

Okay maybe I was being a bit harsh, let's say 80 minutes worth of good funny material.

Deep down you know I'm right.

It was the concept and style of python that mattered more going forward than the content.

I’d love to know who decided to retitle it “Monty Python’s Wonderful World Of Gravity”!

But the content also added a lot of tasty flavour.

Speaking of early Python collaborations, you can read here the entire issue of Help! magazine #24 from 1965, edited by Gilliam, featuring Cleese in one of the fumetti comics (photo comics).

Gilliam had tracked down Cleese after seeing him in the Cambridge Footlights show in NYC and asked him to pose for the photos because "he could pull the best faces".

Not a huge fan of it unfortunately! I tried watching it on Netflix and it was too depressing to watch Terry Jones...

It was during rehearsals for the shows when he realised something wasn’t right and he couldn’t remember his lines. He’s reading most of them off a teleprompter.

I tend to agree. It was patchy. It seemed to me their hearts weren’t really in it.

I think it goes back farther than that. There were moments a year or so earlier during the Meaning of Life 30th anniversary interview that show an uncharacteristically quiet and fidgety Jones having, at times, noticeable difficulty finding the right words to convey memories and express opinions.

There is also that candid moment where Jones gets up to twiddle with the screen that Idle is on via linkup. Not much on the surface, but the cameras did catch distracted glances from Gilliam, Idle and, the most telling I think, Palin. The look of concern and the way Palin turns away quickly so as not to be caught staring..

Pretty sure they knew what was up.

More Python related "best source" info: How To Irritate People

The program was originally recorded in 1968 for US audiences (on NTSC 2" videotape) and was broadcast in 1969 a couple of times, then promptly forgotten.

The tapes (including additional raw material) were rediscovered in David Frost's archive in 1991, and sent off to be converted to PAL for re-editing and VHS release.

The original US broadcast was 48 minutes long (including an introduction by Frost) but the 1991 edit has a number of additional sketches (car mechanic sketch, the explanation of what a pepperpot actually is, the parents and the job interview) but no Frost introduction, and runs 65 minutes.

So the US NTSC DVD of "How To Irritate People" is actually an NTSC->PAL->NTSC conversion and is notably inferior to the various PAL DVDs. The picture is cropped quite a bit, vertically streched, the colours are oversaturated and the sound is a bit tinny.
