Really looking forward to hear the remixed Oh Darling! and it's outtake!
From the snippet on the promotional video I have a feeling it will be a great remix. And with those backing vocals to the fore...
The new Something remix is alright, but I prefer the one made in 2015 for 1+.
The bass on the song is a lead instrument, so in this case I prefer it panned to the right side of the stereo picture, much more prominent.
On this new mix, the right side seems empty.
But it's great to have the two versions to choose.

Well said, re: Something. The bass is a very busy part, and in the center it commands your attention. I chalked that up to some greater clarity but it's probably as simple as the pan choice.

Interesting how we percieve differently. For me bass to the side makes it stick more out.

That also goes to show that no matter how great/bad a remix, for some it’ll hit the mark, for others it wont.

Well that bites, I waited until 1201am for the Oh Darlings songs to come out and nada! Went to bed, woke up and still nada. Wrote my friend to see what’s up and apparently they pushed it back......that sucks!

But then again, it's a youtube video with tons of compression. Maybe the less compressed official blu ray version will feel different.

That's why it's very subjective what a good / bad remix is.

People don’t seem to understand the difference between Youtube’s File compression and DR Conpression. What YouTube uses does not effect DR of a track.

From the current edition of MOJO:

Abbey Road was the first Beatles album mixed only in stereo.”

(Er, not quite. What about Yellow Submarine? A fold down isn’t a mix.)

Maybe they don’t count that (as I don’t) as an actual Beatles album, but rather a soundtrack.

It's a bit like Magical mystery tour in that it's really just 2 EPs squeezed into 1 12inch disc.

It does have true mono mixes. They were unreleased at the time, but included on Mono Masters

Yellow Submarine may just be an extended EP/soundtrack but I prefer it by a long way to Let It Be. Three great new songs and one okay one. Two old songs but love both of them. George Martin's underrated score and an awesome cover to boot

that sucks if pushed back! but on the other hand, maybe they are just adjusting dates as another release will be announced soon in between AR50th promotion and before AR50th release date I've heard. (and it's not the Singles box set)

If it hasn't been pushed back , the "Oh Darling" single should be out any minute now.

Correct, they compress for size, ultimately sacrificing high end resolution.
But I did mention blu ray specifically. I expect that version to have more DR than whatever they make available for streaming.
In short... I'm waiting for the real thing :)

Most noticable in the high frequencies as you say. But ofcourse everything suffers. Things”sit” differently, smears etc etc...
