Even includes The Ultimate Sin, but no mention of the price yet: OZZY OSBOURNE Vinyl Box Set, 'See You On The Other Side', To Be Released In November
Price is $500, here is the preorder link: See You On The Other Side Vinyl Box Set | Shop the Ozzy Osbourne Music Official Store Edit: @fitzchris72 beat me by a few seconds.
Funnily enough, "See You On The Other Side" is what people will be saying to their wallets before purchasing it.
The bigger question - will this be available from retail / Amazon? If so the price may be less than buying direct from Musictoday.
If you break it down. 16 albums in the box comes out to about $30 an album. Makes it a little more palatable. What I think is weird is that they are including all the live stuff BUT no Speak of The Devil. It's glaringly missing from this. Wonder what the story is on that? Not going to lie, I'm very tempted by this box. My guess is next year they will start doing stand along reissues of the catalog but are going to milk the box set sales as much as they can before releasing individual titles. Sharon knows what she's doing.
I suspect "Speak of the Devil" is not included because it includes ONLY Sabbath songs, even though it is an Ozzy solo record. Maybe they had issues getting the rights to put that one out because it has no actual "solo" material?
Maybe Sharon is in a feud with Brad Gillis? Who knows. I just hope Daisley & Kerslake are on those albums.
It also doesn't include the Blizzard era "Ozzy Live" LP/CD released in 2012. Honestly, from my perspective it's pretty easy and inexpensive to get original pressings of Blizzard through "Just Say Ozzy" along with the relevant 12" singles w/B Sides (or just the Japanese B-Side compilation) which is Ozzy's unquestionably best run as a solo artist at a fraction of what this box set retails for. Another caveat is with massive box sets like this especially with colored vinyl , the chance of poorly pressed or outright defective records runs very high - see the big Queen box from a few years ago as example.
That would actually make the box a bit more desirable among some collectors as the re-recorded versions of the Randy Rhoads albums have to my knowledge never been released on vinyl.
Gillis probably has never had any stake in anything. He was a contract player for a very limited time. I suspect the original mixes and musician contributions from Blizzard and Diary will be intact — Ozzy has since publicly disowned the 2002 re-recordings. The more interesting question is whether the original mix of the Bark At The Moon album will be intact?
Do they still give Grammy's for packaging? This box looks amazing... See You On The Other Side Vinyl Box Set | Shop the Ozzy Osbourne Music Official Store
i want a cd release of this only for the b-sides and the mr crowley ep. for anyone interested I noticed some things missing though -speak of the devil -the no more tears era EP that had a bunch of demo's from that era on it -the live bonus discs from diary deluxe set -the undercovers album missing non album tracks -miracle man (live b-side ) pretty sure this is a different version than the just say ozzy ep -aimee (ozzmosis era b-side) -the whole words falling down (ozzmosis era b-side) -dreamer (acoustic b-side version) -black skies (down to earth era b-side) -nightmare (black rain era exclusive vendor track) -I can't save you (black rain era exclusive vendor track) -love to hate (black rain era exclusive vendor track) -here for you (live from deluxe black rain tour edition) -I don't wanna stop (live from deluxe black rain tour edition) -not going away (live from deluxe black rain tour edition) -hand of the enemy (scream era track from scream tour edition) -one more time (scream era exclusive vendor track) -jump the moon (scream era exclusive vendor track) -bark at the moon (live from deluxe scream tour edition) -let me hear you scream (live from deluxe scream tour edition) -no more tears (live from deluxe scream tour edition) -fairies wear boots (live from deluxe scream tour edition)
I just don’t think it is a good enough catalogue to justify such an elaborate, pricey acquisition. It would be nice to cherrypick titles of interest, both on vinyl and CD.
I think this set looks pretty awesome. Wonder how many theyre making ? If done well this is a set that could defintely keep its value and increase over time.
I concur 100% Most Ozzy is crap - always a diamond or two in the pile - but still crap And I like Ozzy Osborne very much when he's in his groove Michael's dictionary: crap = mostly filler, gratuitous, tired ass hooks over and over, absurd over production and multi-tracking for songs that don't need or deserve it (like a metal Phil Spector production), rare if ever band cohesion (Ozzy makes records like the old session player days - doesn't translate so well for metal) except for the one diamond per album mostly throwaway played metal themes, terrible recordings 90% of the time
It'd be squashed just like all the CD/digital Ozzy reissues from this century, though. I'm curious whether these will be sourced from original tapes or just from compressed versions, particularly the later albums. Interesting they specifically mention No More Tears but nothing about the source for anything else in here.
btw they have released about 1/2 of the concert from 7/3/2010 . I wish they would just release this entire concert
This basically matches the Black Sabbath box that came out a few years ago. That one included high res files though. Weird this one does not.
are you serious or just kidding - original tape? I own "No More Tears" on CD and a bunch of other Ozzy titles all on CD except I have a cassette of "The Ultimate Sin" my "Blizzard of Ozz" and "Tribute" is all the Ozzy I've got on vinyl I really don't think compression will hurt these records : - ) Michael
