Simple question: what's the first debut album from an artist that you bought when it was still the only album that artist had done?

No one-and-done albums allowed - the band needs at least two albums to fit this thread.

And this is about the first time in your life that you bought a debut album before a follow-up existed.

As such, you can only have one answer! :)

I hate to admit it but the 1st debut album I bought was Silverchair- frogstomp. I was really young and really into grunge.

If I’m being totally honest, it’s probably Bush.

Edit: no, wait, I had the Rage Against the Machine album before that!

    Steven Wilson - Insurgentes

All of those feel like cheating though since I was familiar with most of the principe musicians on each due to prior bands.

Big Country “The Crossing” (1983) was the only time I purchased a debut album when it first came out, and I was immediately blown away by it. It’s still one of my all-time favorite albums. Favorite tracks include “Fields of Fire,” “chance,” The Storm, “Porrohman” “One Thousand Stars” and my #1 Big Country track....“Inwards.”

Meet the Beatles. I must have been 6or 7. I don’t think it was fr the master tapes or 180g vinyl.

I usually like to let a thread go a little while before I post just because I can then bump it, but since you asked so politely! :)

1977's Foreigner. Not sure how long after its release that I bought it, but it was definitely the first debut I bought before the artist put out their follow-up!

    It might've been Neil Young
    or Soft Machine
    or Led Zeppelin.
    Which ever came first.

Uhhh... damn, this is a hard one!

I may have bought Nirvana's Bleach on cassette prior to Nevermind. At least, I think I did. A bunch of my friends had already recommended it way before Nevermind.

Yeah I had to think hard if I bought the Bush debut or silverchair frogstomp first...those were my first two though without a doubt.
