I’m pretty sure it’s Flaunt It by Sigue Sigue Sputnik (1986).

The Stone Roses: The Stone Roses

I was lucky to live on Long Island during the 80's and was devoted to WLIR/WDRE which would play Imports on Sunday night and introduce new bands. Now I don't find out about artist until second/third album. Or after they've disbanded and gotten back together (Slow Dive).

    Nice thread.

Yeah I would have said that but my first one to fall under the OP’s guidelines was

    The Outfield- Play Deep

I saw them with a few friends at a club around New Haven, Connecticut, called the Moon—slightly larger than my living room. We briefly hung out with them afterward. They were charming enough to compel me to buy their CD when I bumped into it at a record shop a few weeks later. By the end of the year, I caught them at Roseland in NYC opening a triple bill with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam. A meteoric rise.

Pretty sure it was General Public’s ST debut, after seeing the video for “Tenderness” on MTV. Which led to me discovering the whole world of Two-Tone and ska music.

One could argue that Chronic Town was their debut, but as it was an EP it may not count.

I mean his hard can it be....

" post your first sophomore album you bought on release day in another country" seems easy enough to me.

Boy, I have to think about it. Probably either The Eagles’ debut or Aerosmith’s, but I may have a different answer the more I remember.

I am pretty sure it must've been Look Sharp by Joe Jackson with Just Can't Stop It by The (English) Beat probably the next.
